FYI - Just bought the boat about 3 weeks ago. 1985 Wellcraft 320

I'm wanting to replace the impeller, but I'm unable to get the Anode removed. It appears previous owners tried removing it before and rounded off the bolt.

So, I've tried drilling it out (Bolt) with no luck. Just burnt about 4 drill bits up.

Does anyone have any suggestions?

Thanks,
Scott

Hardened steel cobalt drill bit......slow down the drill speed and use plenty of cutting oil....

When I had an 1985 Alpha, the tab was held by an allen head machine bolt. Are you sure that yours didn't use an allen wrench?

If so...you may have left enough remaining for the allen wrench to still work.

Happy boating!

Allen head bolt on the Alpha, may have to drill the zinc and remove the zinc that way, then split the case and replace the bolt.

Yes... It's an allen bolt. Looks like they tried to get it out before and stripped the allen bolt head out. I thought about cutting into the anode from the bottom, but not for sure if that was a good idea. I really don't know what I need to use to cut the anode. Would a hack saw work??

That's for all the replies.

drill a series of 3/8 ths holes and remove it in sections, zinc drills easier than the bolt.

Thank you for the advice. I did what you suggested. I drilled several hole down each side. Then I took my drimal tool and slotted down both sides. After that, I took a small chisle and lightly tapped out the anode in several little pieces. It took about 1.5 hrs to complete.

Again, thanks....
