By the way (not to start yet another thread), when the boat comes to DB for the summer, we are out at Disappearing Island every weekend, rain or shine. Consider this an open invitation to anyone who wants to join up. Hell, even if you don't have a boat, PM or call ahead and we won't leave the dock without you.

Sasto, if you ever come up this way, don't worry about a hotel. We'll head back to the house and you can grab the spare room or stay on the boat if you like.

OK, I get it... You don't want to start another thread, so you'll just jack sasto's. Seriously, though, those are some very gracious gestures. Never thought about spending so much time in Florida. Looks like I've got some good reasons now. Never heard of Disappearing Island... Gonna send me another Google tutorial?

Sure, I'll jack Sasto's thread. He's not really using it!!

Disappearing Island is right at the mouth of Ponce Inlet. Roughly 10-12 acres in size, it's really just a giant sandbar. A giant sand bar that attract hundreds of people every weekend and thousands during holidays. I would ship you another Google tutorial, but it's really only funny the first time. However, Google images has tons of pics of it. You guys should try to make it down during 4th of July, Memorial Day, Labor Day, etc to check it out.

I figured it's probably a huge sand bar which disappeares and reappears with the tides.

I recently learned about scalloping in Florida!!! MMMmmm!!! I heard that the July 4th weekend is the season opener. Any scallops around Disappearing Island?

Well, haven't been here for a while...sure is good to read of some more get-togethers.

We were at the first one at Lk. Griffin with a handful of folks and had a ball.

The last one was at Crystal Isle in Crystal River, just a few months before Bob (tashasdaddy) passed. It sure was good sitting around the fire with him and Tasha, Brendan and some others and talking fishing!

So...gotta look up the St Augustine thread. Will keep track of this one as well.

Sure would be good to see Kevin and his "cheap boat" show up at one of these!

As far as the scallops..West coast up north of Pasco county up to Steinhatchee. July 2 to Sept. 10th. Always a great time for a get together with folks..just join the flotilla!!

LOL....Been busy, Life is good! Landed another boat to captain yesterday. Trips to Key West and Myrtle Beach are in the plans.

How about Sept. 17th? I hope the other guys can make it to one of them.

2 charter fishing boats and 1 private (plus ours). Think that's all I want, veritas honus. We are going river fishing today and taking friends, wish you were here!

Let me know if you ever need a deckhand on any of the trips. I don't have my official Captain's license (but I may in the near future), but I can run bigger boats, twins, electronics, and I'm mechanically inclined.

The 17th looks good. It's in my calendar.

I am still keeping up with this thread also, this will be more difficult for me due to distance from home and the time limit of just a weekend, not going to count this one out but will see what the future holds.

Man, I wish I were there with ya, too!!!

I just got back from My In-Laws lake house. We put cypress siding on the addition we built. My Father-in-Law got 1"X8 1/4" rough sawn cypress to side the whole house. It's beautiful; and I'm hurting all over now. We saw several 3-4lb. largemouth at the dock, along with some pretty big shell crackers. Never threw a line in... Work, work, work:facepalm:.

Ok boys and girls I am bringing this back to the top as it is time to start building this thread up with posts about the trip in Sept. Just went through it and it would appear that the date is Sept 17, I will start working on a plan for that weekend, who knows, I may have my work schedule changed by then and have a 4 day weekend every week. My wife is looking forward to this trip also after meeting everyone, she said so on the way home from St Augustine. She really knew nothing about any of you other than I had a trip planned for us one weekend in June with some people from iboats. I guess she still trusts my judgement on trips like this, I have taken her on several others before and she had to meet new people, she liked all of them, so if I say I am working on a trip she asks me when is it. So lets get this confirmed and we can start making plans to have no special just like St Augustine.

The date is good for me, nlain. I'm finally home now for what looks like the whole summer. This little island we are at is practically deserted till November. It will be easy for me to find accommodations for little or nothing. We have plenty to do. Swimming pools, hot tubs, beach, marina, restaurants, great fishing, everything you need is probably here.....except Absolute...just down the road. Come on down, bring your hat and sunscreen and stay awhile.

I used that date since it was posted earlier in the thread, we will see how everyone feels and go from there. It will suit me fine also, I will want to schedule a couple days extra so I have a day to get there and a day to get home due to the 6 or 7 hour drive plus stops for food and other things. That would give me a couple days to enjoy whatever is happening. Will have to stop and get some ABSOLUTE so we can have an Absolutely good time.

The date is good because it is near veritas honus's birthday. If anybody has a camper or motor home, we have spots for them also. I will post some photos of the place when I wind down from the whirlwind tour I've been on the past couple weeks. Wheeeeeew! :facepalm:
