I just finished replacing my gimbal bearing and boots. Had her out on the water yesterday for the first time to see how she ran and there is a significant vibration coming from the drive that wasn't there before. It gets worse at higher speeds and turning. I just pulled the drive again and the only obvious thing i found wrong was on of the o-rings that ride under the bearing was broke. the bearing looks fine and the shaft looks fine. The u-joint looks great as well.
When I installed the bearing, I put in the freezer to contract it and help it slide in. I aligned the bearing with my alignment tool. I had troubles getting the drive on because of too much grease on the o-rings so i removed it. When I removed it the bearing came out with the shaft so I hammered it back in, cleaned everything, replaced the o-rings and lightly greased them. Drive slid right on with ease the second time. When I pulled the drive this time, the bearing was still fully seated in the housing. I don't really know what to do except get another bearing and try again? Any advice would be greatly appreciated.
Also, my drive is an Alpha 1 Gen 2.
