Holy carp.... Maybe go ahead & buy the 2014 kit now... W/ just a tad more time, I can't imagine, but w/ a whole YEAR... Wow.. :faint2:

Just so you know, when you get to the derby, the other dad's WILL be talking about ya, and another kick arse car out of the JDA & Sons garage...

Excellent work pops! I hope he gets as lucky in the races as he did in the choice of dad lottery ;)

I am so glad I'm not in your derby pool! Judge!!! dude, I think I saw some of the vehicles you had more time to complete at the Detroit Auto show this year. They were called concept cars and the manufacturers were outbidding each other for your talents.

I only wish I could do such a carp job with "no time"

MRS, the arm rests look good, rounding the corner really helps,

on the side bolster, I cant tell for sure, but looks like 3 separate cushions, if so it is probably put on center first stapled down with the grey fabric up, then stapled with one of the outsides on top on the staples with the face down cushion placed then rolled over...if ya follow me there...when you take it apart you will understand! the center grey that is a tufting bar....you will probably have to find an upholstery shop or fabric supplier who has a machine to cover with the correct material...

4 days total working time...should have taken 2 though, but with having to stop and help customers, doing warranty repairs, and wondering where my help is at..it took longer than I wanted

JD, As usual nice work!!! That machine makes ALL the difference. Been working on the Bimini a little bit and that Material needs your machine to do the work. I also noticed that with my #20 needles make bigger holes than the #65 thread and the holes DON'T close back on the thread like vinyl does. Think I'm gunna try a heat gun on it to see if they'll close up a bit. I keep looking for some "FOOL" that has a Walking foot for $300 bucks but no luck so far.

Can't wait to see the Pontoon, I KNOW it's gunna look Fabulous!!!!

I've been reading through this thread over the past week. I used to do upholstery work for a living. I'm starting to get back into it on a part-time basis. Be sure to use a polyester thread when working on a Bimini, helios is better, but probably to heavy for your machine. Nylon thread will rot very quickly. Also, basting tape may help to seal needle holes. What fabric are you using? This is a seat I built recently for my 73 Checkmate. I'll keep following along.... love this thread. Keep up the good work.

Re: Another one...Upholstery

I will update pictures soon, probably over the weekend, but have been so busy with the impending boat season upon us that finding time to get online has been harder than ever...currently have 2 boats in my shop, and 7 more booked over the next 2 months, I am buried under a pile of boats because boaters forget about them during the off season and then everyone comes at same time and wants them yesterday! anyhow, I will always try and visit the tread as much as I can to answer questions, but bear with me during this time if I fail to post pics and stuff

Re: Another one...Upholstery

Thought maybe you'd moved to WV, saw a JDA custom wv plate on a pickup that looked like your's the other day :)

Only sideswiped 1 lamp pole & a took a small bite out of a telephone pole, right about bumper height, trying to get my cellphone camera out.....

Being buried under a backlog of boats is a good problem to have, sometimes. All the time, not so much....

But ya know: something something about hay & sunshine...

It really is great to hear the business is staying busy. When's the 1yr in the new joint roll around? Congrats on that too!

You've earned a 'lean back & enjoy that moment' moment............ Then back to work lackey.... :whip:

Great news on staying busy! Way better than being bored with no money to do anything...just make sure to plan for yourself a huge, well earned and well deserved break...;)
I'll be right here in the bleachers looking forward to the upcoming updates...:D
