Not true....
However you must pay prevailing wage to non union personnel on publicly funded projects......;)

I was worried you'd find a way ta spank me where I would have ta find a law or something ta cite, (you are very good at debate: Bro Haut). Don't want ta take the time to read the RCW or WAC, (and you may be right it may not be manditory but THAT IS HOW IT IS ALWAYS DONE HERE), so I wished I had picked another word, (as usual with debating you: Bro). That said: please cite any significant public project performed in this State over the last fifty years by a non union contractor. Ya can't Bro. JR

Paying Prevailing Wages, with the required "Bennies" package,.......
Contractors can Easily bid,+ Build projects WAY Cheaper than a Union Jobsite........Period........

The Men in the Boots(Me) all get a Nice Fat Paycheck,.....
And the Contractors usually get a Big Bonus for a job Done, On or Under both Schedule,+ Budget.........

Why use scabs when you have more qualified people to do the job?
Just to save a few bucks?......
The contracts are awarded to the lowest, qualified bidder......;)

If you want some fun take an airplane to Kalamazoo Michigan and go the paper mill to fix a machine that none of the 17 trades has a clue about

Then wait for the plumber, electric, machinist, mechanic, forklift driver, forklift mechanic and rigger around 11 am on a good day everybody shows up and work can start on the 1 hour job

8)8)Yeah but at least "black projects" produced super duper military equipment. I felt my money is well worth it, the SR-71, F-117 both came straight from such projects.

guess i was lucky to do my apprenticeship in non union
i never had the oppurtunity to spend a year running a grinder.don't get me wrong unions have their place they have just lost site of the common goal.company makes money so do the workers.i now work non union as a foreman on afternoons and our wages/benefits are better than most union shops here.

Unions contribute to corporate bloat for sure, but they are certainly not the only problem. Corporate buffoonery has a lot to do with lowered profits also.

For instance, the Ford Taurus was one of the most popular and profitable cars Ford ever made. So what did they do? Shut down the line and closed the plant.

Pure genius. No wonder Toyota is eating their lunch.

The question should read, "But will the Americans ever build an American vehicle as good as Americans build Japanese vehicles?"

Well, sure they will. Just as soon as the American vehicle is designed as well as the Japanese vehicle.

The question is will Americans ever build a car from parts that are the same quality as the ones the Jap cars are made from?

Until someone starts buying my replacement parts for me I won't buy an American vehicle. I don't make enough to throw money away on junk. I have a 1997 Nissan pickup, and with the exception of an EGR valve sticking due to not being used for a while, that truck has never been worked on. It runs as good as the day it was made. My uncle owns a 1994 Nissan Sentra he drives to work in at the John C Stennis space center. It has 340,000 miles on it and it purs like a kitten.

Why buy American? They're junk compared to the jap cars.

Ah, a statement of convenience.
We're all American until it comes time to pay the tag for doing so.

American manufacturers keep the profits here (for the most part). Foreign-owned companies ship our dollars to their country.

In my mind, simple as that.

And, I'll keep buying American!

Every time I hear some manager say they have a union problem, invariably it can be traced back to a management problem.

Come on...time to wake up! Yes, it's true that American manufacturers keep the profit in the country, but do you get any of that profit? Unless you have stock and stuff that you would benefit from. I'm speaking from a working man point of view, who just make enough to cover my cost of living and only can dreams of owning stocks. Foreign manufacturers take the profit home but they do provide job for American who directly benefit from the selling of foreign vehicle. Beside, stocks are sold worldwide, who to says that there's not someone oversea owning a bunch of Ford stocks and reap the profit. Who's there to says that there's not someone in America owning a bunch of Toyota stocks. There is nothing patriotic about buying American these day. There are more thing you can do to be patriotic but buying American cars is not one of them.

Perhaps a Chevy or a Ford soon to be manufactured and imported from China, will change the perception that US manufacturers profits are fully reinvested in America and their respective employees.

Foreign car makers are publicly traded corporations, same as Ford and GM (oh, Chrysler too). Anyone can share in their successes or failures, just like with the big 2.

Their profits presumably go back into enhancing product R&D, plant upgrades (US plants, too) and stock share prices. Just like "American" corporations, whatever that is anymore.

Just Curious,...... Just What is your Trade,..??...

And,.... With the statement above,......

How was it that You finially figured out that the Unions were Screwing both You,+ your Customers,..??....

Knowing That,....... How can you advocate the Union Workers are Smarter(a lie of course),....
And that Union Workers are More Productive(another fallacy),......

Following this line of thinking,.....
Are you hiring the Union Educated, Smarter Workers(roll eyes),+ then paying them Only the Prevailing Wage,....
Rather than their Union Wages, along with the Union Fees associated with having Union Employees,..??......

Just Curious...........................
