I am not familiar with what an anti siphon valve is or does and I do not know exactly where it is. If anyone could help on this matter it would be greatly appreciated. I have access below the deck to where my fuel line connects to the tank and also where my fuel gauge is wired to if that is of any help.

Re: anti siphon valve

it stops fuel from running back from the engine, somtimes it's at the fuel pickup fitting on the tank,it should unscrew out of the top of the tank, it will just be a ball and seat in there. there also should be one in the primer bulb. Hope this helps

MDeVito, You have at least three topics started dealing with the same issue. That confuses the the people that are trying to help you. I am going to try to combine them. If you want to get your topic to the top, just reply to yourself.

The fuel vent line is somehow clogged, kinked, etc.

2. The anti siphon valve is constricting fuel flow.

#1 is easy to check. Run the enngine with the fuel filler cap loose. If it improves, you have a vent line problem.

#2 the anti siphon valve is located on the (fuel to engine) outlet fitting of the fuel tank. You can remove the valve for TESTING to determine if it is stuck.
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

I have a 1995 Roberts flats boat with a 1995 88 special. I am having a problem with a blockage in fuel line and I do not know where the fuel draw tube is or what it is for that matter. Also what and where is the anti siphon valve?
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Posts: 4 | From: St. Pete | Registered: Mar 2004 | IP: Logged

Bass Runner
Captain
Member # 39511

posted April 24, 2004 12:10 PM
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
I don't know anything about Robert's boats but the fuel draw tube is in your gas tank (where the fuel line hooks up)usally they have a screen on the bottom of the tube that will get plugged if you get rust or dirt in the tank, just pull the tube out and look at it, I run a inline fuel filter in all my boats you can tell if you have trash because you can see it in the filter, the anti siphon valve is usally in the primer ball, just lets fuel run one way, make sure the arrow on the bulb is pointed towards the motor (not towards the tank)also some siphon tubes have the anti syphon valve in the fitting at the top of the tank. Hope all this helps it is this way on all permanate mount and portable tanks.

--------------------
72 Chrysler pro bass runner16'cathedral hull 70hp Johnson (current project) 68 Hustler 15' 33 Evinrude (next)

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Posts: 214 | From: Oklahoma | Registered: Apr 2004 | IP: Logged

MDeVito
First Mate
Member # 38980

posted April 24, 2004 12:44 PM
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Thank you!

After reviewing these, it belongs in General Out board topics. The same applies to many.

Re: anti siphon valve

hello
the anti-siphon valve is just that.
it prevents any breaks in the fuel line at a level lower than the fuel from siphoning.
any boat that has an enclosed fuel cell under the deck and a fuel line that drops below the top of the tank is required to have one. however there are many many different ones. not all are the same. it depends on the siphon height. they can stick and get gummed up. its just a check valve. it is a spring and a ball arrangement now. used to be a shuttle with orings that would swell and stick.. its normally the 5/8ths hex thing on the top of the gas tank. you can temporarily remove it for test puposes.
good luck and keep posting
