I really like the layout on the older (80's) Carver 3607 aft cabins. There are quite a few out there at reasonable prices for the working man.

I like the centre line berth in the aft cabin, full size fridge in the galley, Crusader engines often found in them, gen sets, 2 heads, ample room, nice lines, fly bridge, etc.

What I don't like, is the extensive use of wall to wall carpet. I assume this is likely due to sound dampening and/or cost cutting but, I don't particularly care for carpet.... no, I really dislike carpet.

Are there Carvers out there, or similar layout boats without carpet?

Yes, I've seen the $100k ++++ trawlers out there with teak or holly soles; but the $25k to $65K boats... not so much.

On a side post, anyone else "strongly dislike" carpet?

Merry Christmas,
Just five and half more months before I can put the boat back in the water.......

I do not like carpet and only have it in the bedrooms of my homes. It should never be on a boat~~ but will always be for the reasons you mentioned. Teak is expensive and a pain to maintain. Carpet removal is easy to remove and teak easy to install for a DIY project.

I love carpet on boats, especially in the cabin. Snap in carpet for the cockpit is easy to remove when needed.
I would also suggest pulling up the carpet and replace with vinyl flooring or faux teak.

Agreed. Snap-in carpet is the best solution on a boat. I think it works well in the cabin of the boats as well. Makes clean-up a breeze, and changing out carpet/colors even easier. The only people who dislike carpet are those who are covering the boat in fish guts/grime all of the time. Carpet stays cooler, and is nicer on bare feet. I'm sure those who are running around in the winter temps don't care about the feel of carpet, lol.

The carpet was pulled on our Carver 3067. I like the vinyl flooring look but it was done by a paper-hanger. It will need to be re-done. No excuse for the uneven edges.
