Re: Anybody know Mercedes-Benz?
It's a great car, mostly because it's the final production run of that 170 chassis. All factory refinements have been done.
Common faults would be the autotrans electrical pin bushing connector is prone to leak every 20/30k miles. This is a minor repair, under a hundred bucks. Less if your mechanically inclined, the part is $15 and takes 20 minutes to replace.
The vario roof has a tendency to make creaking noises, that's minor also. There is a special weatherstrip lubricant that you apply that does wonders to quiet it down.
About the only issue I find bothersome is the interior pieces like the center console is made with black plastic that has a soft feel interior paint colored to the interior. If is scratched the black shows through. If the interior is black it isn't an issue.
The drivetrain has never been an issue with the 170 chassis. The 4 cylinder is a bit noisey since they use the supercharger as the air injection (AI) pump when cold.
If you PM me with the full VIN#, I can run a vehicle master inquirery and provide you with the vehicle's history.
If it's from a MB dealer it should be a certified pre-owned (CPO), double check to make sure it is, as then it'll be fully reconditioned and have a full warrenty out to 100k.
The CPO is extensive enough that it addresses interior issues before it's sold. And any collisions that come close to the frame exempts the vehicle from being a CPO candidate.
SLK230= "S"uper "L"ight (Body) "K"ompressor (supercharged) 2.3 liter.
How about a 2004 SLK230, 40K mi. lease return? We have not looked at it, as it at a MB dealer in Mansfield OH.
