Re: anybody stingray owners
i am a happy 5 year owner of a 1991 656zp bowrider w/5.7 rochester quadrajet alpha 1 gen2 outdrive. It had 230 hours on it when i bought it. it rides well in the chesapeake in any chop by using a little bit of my snow skiing parallel skills.
i've taken it to out on still water up to 44mpg with a 21degree stock aluminum prop w/o a tune up. the air vacume-locked and i dragged back to 35mph. that's ok, because the droplets hurt my face.
i made a clip-on rod holder for the transom to go for strippers. I have a triple person pull behind and 2 sets of skiis and a knee board. all great.
i've been to Lake Anna, Chincotegue, Chesapeake Balt-Tilman isle, Deale, Chesapeake beach...and all between plus NY canandaigua.
The boat is perfect. The trailer is always maintenance. I am going to drill the hubs and add zerk fittings to the inside (enlikened super lube) so i won't have to maintain 4 hubs. the salt from chincoteague absorbes the LED wiring and waters down my hub grease. I know how to beat it though.
So...i love the boat. Just what I need to get through my mid life. Not too much and not too little. 12 hours In/out and trolling on a tank....$85 or i can cruise 4 hours at 20-30mph.
I did add a stingray hydroplane to the outdrive. that was my first buy. then water pump, led trailer lights, brakes, surge actuator. don't buy tie down. get the zodiac brakes. I want to add LED rope for a nice eve effect.
Stingray is awesome. I am ready to update some upholstery now. Any ideas ?
