How does Jeremy fit into some of those cars and still competently drive them is hilarious to see, even though his part most of the time seems to be to bumble everything he touches.

I think the original is great but the American version as of now is mediocure @ best and that is mainly due tot he hosts! the show realy needs some noticible faces that have real knowledge of cars possibly Leno, Waltrip, Goldburg, Stacey David, some names with carisma and a real knowledge of cars and what there capable of

Leno would be a great place to start as a host for that show. Big name & generally funny plus he really knows/loves cars. Isn't he looking for work??? :)

Adam Carolla and or Tim Allen in addition to Leno would be better IMO
Also there are a ton of car people out there that would probably be good. A Dale Jr., Danica Patrick or John Force type person.

Anyway there is no doubt in my mind the 3 hosts of the original Top Gear would laugh at and rip the "USA" version and rightfully so I suppose. I'm watching it but its not near as good as the original. And the original is seen in 17 countries with 350 million estimated viewers.
I guess my question is why cant it be shown here ? Is it too politically incorrect ? I think it may have been shown here couple years back on Speed or BBC but I did not have that ultra premium package cable.

The U.K. version is shown here on BBC America. Lotsa repeats going on right now and a new season coming up.

Yup... mediocre is the best comment I could make for the US show.

I really like the Brit's show though

You guys can't compare 15 seasons of TG UK to 3 guys with no history and 3 episodes. Give it a couple seasons, EP 3 showed potential.

And tanner is twice the driver any of the UK hosts are.

I think the problem is we are all comparing it to the UK version. If we hadn't seen that version the US version would seem a lot better.

I think that the hosts on the UK TG are better hosts, and as you all have said before they have chemistry.

The US TG hosts were just thrown together, but they are better drivers than the UK hosts. Also, it will be nice to see some cars are more relevant in the US.

I don't like it because they talk like they are talking to a 5 yr old.

They talk like they're reading their lines - including the jokes. I don't really get the feeling they're better drivers at all (except Tanner). Plus, I'm not particularly interested in watching a trained racer driving the cars all the time, that's what The Stig is for. It's more fun too see a passionate car enthusiast driving the car (ie, the UK guys). That's kind of the point - it's a show about some car enthusiasts playing with really fancy cars, not a car review show. If you want car reviews, watch MotorWeek or something.

I remember way back when Top Gear was a car review show, and a good one at that.
Now it's mostly about fantasy cars and slap shtick bs which is great for good TV ratings.
However having said that, when as they seldomly do feature regular cars that most of the general public can afford, they do a very good job of it.

I must admit that after getting several episodes under my belt I'm all in. I think the hosts can be stiff & dry at times, but overall I enjoy it.

if you are looking for real world affordable muscle cars i guess its time to find so dukes of hazzard reruns. otherwise pretty much everycar they drive is WAY out of my price range.

I agree about the gigabucks cars and thats probably all it will be for the most part I guess. I think the latest episode was the best tho I liked the ridge runner and old Chebbies filled with water episodes, that Roadmaster was a trooper.

I didn't even think of Tim Allen he would be great and as far as Leno he even stated it was his favorite show. Who is Tanner Foust anyway? and those other 2 guy's. The above said names would really make this show a hit and possibly surpass the euro version

Re: Anybody watching Top Gear USA?

Sorry, the show bored the crap out of me!
Those two losers don't look or act as if they could put them cars through their paces.
A lot of shots like that can be done in a studio! Then show a REAL driver doing the driving.
And the jokes are as boring as some Funniest Video shows.
I saw another show lately and it really started to stink, their idiotic stunts are lower than stupid!
I like the old version better.
I'd love to see the Australian version...show some cool cars from down under!
