104* on Saturday at Canyon Lake outside of Phoenix. I was shivering in the 77 degree water after jumping in a few times. I got cool to the core and then the evaporative cooling took over. I dig it! Actually caught some fish in the morning too!

This is why you always wear trunks or bring a towel on the boat!

We still go boating but due to our triple digit temps & high Humidity we wait til late afternoon to go out. Also purchased new Bimini to help with heat some now just need time to install.

Was out this weekend... 75F, 65% humidity. Water temp 61F!

That's the bad news. The good news is only another month of winter! :D

Re: anyone boating in the heat?

We have taken off for a few weeks as the heat is tough to take, even with a top...we will start again this weekend as long as the rain holds off. Been doing some repairs on the boat, ie. carbs rebuilt on the 55HP, new ignition switch, wiring upgrades, trailor repairs etc. Still fishing but going late evening for cat fishing from the banks at local ponds and smaller lakes.

Doesn't matter to me how hot it is. Of course having A/C onboard sure makes it comfortable :D Open the side window and hang the pole out, turn on the TV and relax. I like teasing those that don't have air. I'll come out of the cabin and tell them I had to come out to warm up. :D

Supposed to get down to 57 tonight. Guess I'll have to wear long pants to go fishing in the morning.

Re: anyone boating in the heat?

good to see tashasdaddys posts again...

but i dont get it......

boating in the heat is when you boat.

i live in dry heat......is gets over 100 degs here in a good summer.....and thats when boating is a must !
its 10 deg cooler on the water.....and a quick dip makes everything great.

i just cant see not going out in the hot.

please explain !

EXACTLY!! I don't like to boat when its less than 90 degrees out. The lake feels a good 10-15 degrees cooler and the water is cooler also. I prefer to boat when its 100+ outside with water temps of 95 degrees or so. Only supposed to be in the upper 80s this weekend and I think thats too cold to boat and have fun without someone feeling cold.

Heck yea, but it's not hot up here. In fact, this weekend is the annual Salmon Derby so it'll be combat-fishing at it's best. Or, in other words, a good time to go target some halibut.

Re: anyone boating in the heat?

You get used to it in Texas otherwise you would never be able to take the boat out. Either keep the boat moving or go to Pine Island, anchor the boat and wade around in the water.

Pine Island at Lake Livingston is the spot to be at anyway. It has a great beach area for the kids to play and swim. The adults can relax and partake of some adult beverages (to moderation of course). The key is always to have a designated driver.

They need to come back and extend that ramp to the water so you can use it.
