Yup, Houston is bad too.

triple digits EVERY day, about 1/2" of rain SINCE FEBRUARY!!! We are about 24" low this year. Boat ramps are closed on the lake, and the water is out WAY past the boathouses.

This is Lake Houston, down about 8' from normal.

Yeah, lake Travis is about done. I also got to Somerville but it's just as bad. I am going to Decker Lake on sunday, ssshhhhh, dont tell anyone, its a constant level lake because of the power plant. Hopefully the jet skiers wont be out, I normally don't go out on holiday weekends but my kids want to go. I will see.

Scooper, did you get a chance to take the boat to Lake Livingston this past weekend? I know you mentioned going there in a post last week. If you did, I guess you noticed it is down 3-4'.

If you come out again, come out to Pine Island and look for the yellow Chaparral. Me and the girls will be kicked back relaxing in the water.

Yes, we made it to Livingston weekend before last. Saw a boat similar to yours on NorthWest side of Pine island, 3 young girls, maybe in the 7-10 year old range. Was that you?

We started on the North side, hung out and met a bunch of people, then went completely around the island and stopped briefly by the yellow boat. It was 1:30 already, and we were out of gatorade, and headed home.

Yep, that was probably us except I only had two girls with me. My daughters are 7 & 10. You need to stop next time and say hi.

I go to and from work over the bridge on 1960 and it is terrible how low Lake Houston is. I look forward to this weekend at Lake Livingston but would have been much happier if we would have gotten at least a part of TS Lee.

I agree! we were hoping to be spending the long holiday weekend home watching the 40-60% chance of rain. Instead, still hot and dry, and our rain chances have dropped to 10%!!!

We still have hope...We tend to get our storms in late September. My wife's birthday is 9/23 and we OFTEN spend it hunkered down.

We don't travel on holiday weekends. Too many freaks out on the roads and on the water.

If we see you out there again, we will introduce ourselves.

austin is in flames this evening. too many fires to count. this one is across lake austin from my house, mabye 2 miles away. at least 25 homes burned, 4000 (all of 'em) evacuated.

fire in bastrop tx is 16 mi long and 4 mi wide. 400 hundred homes burned so far.

fire crews are stretched too thin. temps over 100. wind gusting all day long. no rain in months...not looking good for lots of folks.

That fire is massive... last I checked, it was 16 miles long... burned 17,000 acres, took 400 homes and they have NO control over it.... I'm praying for them... They're even calling in retired and off duty firemen to help, from all over the country... Sad stuff

We are all facebooking each other trying to find people to drive up, pick up as many horses as you can, and take them someplace safe until the fires are under control. That area has LOTS of horses.

Sadly, I don't personally have a trailer or a place to put them, or I would help out. Best I can do is put the message on my Facebook wall and hope a friend can help out.

URGENT NEED for horse transport for evacuation in Bastrop County, TX. Barns that were used to house evacuees are now in the fire's path. Rt 304 still open both ways. Anyone in the area who can help, please call Beth at 512-467-4893 or Rachel at 512-581-2940. There at least 43 horses in immediate need at their rescue, surely there will be more. **Please cross post!!**

Did they get it put out? There was one about 4 miles from where I live right now, but they got it put out fairly quick.

bastrop is still only 30% or so contained. up to nearly 40k acres.
steiner ranch is mostly out but crews are still dealing with hotspots. the only separating my house from steiner is lake austin....eek...it's barely a canal.

i work in san antonio and sure enough, on the way home yesterday...smoke!! fair oaks ranch almost went up.
