One up under the cav plate just above the prop, and one near the upper fill plug of the lower, I don't know the exact locations on your peticular motor, you didn't say the engine wasn't running at first so now my thoughts have changed, you obviously a dead cylinder and the unburnt fuel is being exhausted. compression test the cylinders.A70,
I didn't know about a crankcase drain. Where is it located?
I have used Seafoam in it.
This motor doesn't have enough power to get a 14' aluminum boat on plane. I have posted this problem several times before and tried all suggestions and none have worked. The only question in my mind might be that even though it has a 1/2" spark jump, it might not work under a load.
Radio Shack can't get one of the parts needed to make a high voltage tester. Maybe I will try a TV repair place.
I may take it to a mechanic for an estimate. I've been ripped off so many times I hate to go that route.
BA I can tell you that I think that motor should plane off a 14ft. tin boat with no problem, I have a old 9.5 that planes off my 14 ft jon boat fully loaded. Either you have a power issue or you need to redistribute weight in your boat.
