Re: anyone make Bio-Diesel?
I worked at a motorcycle dealership a few years ago and we made bio-diesel weekly ...... the man wo owned the dealership also owned 17 Mc D's in the state so the used oil was very available.
We had 55 gallon drums with band heaters and eventually went to 80 gallon hot water tanks to heat our oil.
We dispensed tis bio-diesel into cars and trucks that were in the owner's fleet. MANY various engines consumed the fuel from older motors to newer...... we had one Mercedes, Ford, one chevy, one dodge and it was fun.
There were days where the owner would come in and and his mercedes would smell like fillet of fish ..... yuck but most of the time it smelled like a french fry.
Our biggest obstacle was keeping everything filtered properly.
Angus.....great plan. I was always curious how the hydrogen is actually stored...... is there a compression unit involved?
HIJACK We have a very large plywood factory here that makes specialty hardwood plywoods...... It is located near a river.
Logs are delivered and cut to length then stripped into veneer layers on a big lathe...... The core of the log usually about 6" diameter is then chopped in a shredder......
Shredded wood is fed via augers into a large furnace..... the water from the river is fed into a jacket surrounding the furnace and it produces steam....... steam turns the steam turbine which turns the generators.......and makes the electricity.
The entire power generation is self contained and powers the entire factory..... the saws, the lathes, the dryers and tools. The only outside source of energy comes from the propane delivery for the forklifts (they do have a few battery powered lifts) and a bit of diesel for the log yard loader to move the logs. It is an extremely efficient operation.
