Well, I went out of town for a couple of weeks. I just went out for a little spin in the boat. Boat was on the lift crooked .. anchor tied to the thottle and then to the dock. Oh well, I lower the boat, push off, and nothing. I noted that the key had been left on. With no paddle, I'm watching the dock slowly disappear. I paddled in with a life jacket. My kids know they can take it out anytime they want, but man, are they grounded forever.

So, the battery is completely dead, and I'm charging it now. It's a 1965 40 hp electric shift. I also noted the throttle was in reverse. I would imagine I drained the battery through the reverse coil and the points to an ignition coil. Anyone have any ideas on if this thing will start (melted/burned points) and still have a reverse gear?

Thanks
