Aq125/aq145

Is there difference between AQ125 and AQ145 engines.
Have cracked engine block on AQ145,but have available AQ125 donor,just wonder if the blocks are similar.

The blocks are similar. the aq125A had the B21 block, 2.1 ltr motor, the aq125B used the b23 block, 2.3 ltr motor. Your aq145 used the b23 block.

I'm not sure what else would be different besides the intake and twin carb setup.

Thank you for info,so different displacement will probably disqualify use of AQ125 as a donor ?

Not necessarily. Is the donor a b21 block or b23 block. Its cast right in the block. Even the b21 may work. If the parts had changed much I think Volvo would have not used the model 125b to replace the 125a.

I would continue to look into it myself. AQ125s seem more common than the aq145s. The Aq131 used the b23 block as well but had a different heat exchanger/circulation pump setup.

Is the whole aq145 shot, or just the block. How about the rest of the story.

The same blocks were used in many Volvo cars around 1990.

My friend just discovered cracked AQ145 block,somehow coolant get diluted with water (maybe just a water in there,who knows),we had few very cold nights this winter,and the damage done.
I have AQ125 complete block kicking around,so try to help him and use as a donor.
