Hi gentlemen, My boat is an '85 Bayliner Capri project with the Volvo Penta AQ125 and 270 outdrive. I have the outdrive off and would like to try and start up the the motor to see if it runs.
Here's how I was planning to do it, but I don't know if it's okay? Connect the garden hose directly into the raw water hose heading into the transom. That's it. I understand water will be flushing out of the exhaust bellows (when running) assuming the cooling system is operating properly. Do I need to do anything else to test run?
Will this be totally loud since the exhaust bellows will just be hanging out? What if I were able to feed the exhaust bellows directly into a bucket full of water? Would that make it quieter or be necessary for any other reason?
Thank you!
