I have a 1982 Bayliner Capri w/Aq125a and a 270 outdrive. I bought used and am restoreing it. I was wondering if anyone might know how I might go about finding what other engines I can put in it that fit. I would like more HP.
at 4000rpm's I get rattleing in the motor. Instead of a rebuild I would like something bigger. Is there an upgrade website or something that can tell me what will fit or is that wishful thinking. I was told a small block chevy 350 will fit. Any ideas guys. I'm getting ready to store for winter and would like to know so I can start saveing cash now for the spring.

. Realistically, the other AQ series 4 cylinder engines are an easy swap. To go to a V6 or V8, you'll need to change to a "Y pipe" for the exhaust plus you'll need to change the transom shield to one with the appropriate bypass holes. As TowRoper said, you'll need a different lower gear ratio as well. Plus you'll need to add some front motor mounts. There are quite a few threads on the topic and you'll see that most end with the conclusion that it's probably not cost effective - not that it can't be done if you have the parts and money available
