Re: Are there any dirtbike riders out there ?
RIGHT HERE!
In the early 60's my dad bought me and my brother a Mortgomery Wards 50cc used for a 100.00,and that was just the start of a long term love affair with all motorized objects.
Soon after mastering than bike it was time to move up,so my dad bought us each a 1964 Yamaha 80 with a stamped frame and thats when it happened. We got out in the garage with a hack saw and started to reduce these bikes into racing dirt bikes.OH what a sight!
We soon found myself and family fully into racing moto-cross,Now remember this is the mid 60's.As we got better we moved up to many different bikes,(Yamaha 80,Honda 100,Sachs 125,Kawasiki 125,many Suzuki's)It seemed that the bikes didnt last too long for me and my brother as we were real hard on these things, and sponsers were almost non existance at the later 60's.
So then my dad started working at the local tracks to offset the costs. We worked every weekend at the tracks,(3 and 4 in our area,So Calif). As time went on and we worked and rode lots of the racing circuits, winning, losing, and lots of broken bones.
I still ride to this day and my chioce of poison is A 2004 Suzuki RM 250,I dont race anymore as its too painful just to get out of bed everyday,I'm 48.
Thanks for the blast into the past!!!!!!
