Re: At the gelcoat stage - help needed!!!
Thanks for the compliments folks, just remember it's your replies and comments that gives me the motivation to carry on. I've wanted to give up so many times but this thread is what makes me carry on with it. I don't want to let you guys down lol.
I've not posted in a while as I have not had much progress to post, Its just sanding , sanding , sanding and more bloody sanding.
But anyway, sorry to say but once again I'm nowhere near where I wanted to be, The cap is gelcoated (3 coats and sanded between coats) I'm still on the sanding steps though to bring out the shine. I had to start with 240g and in some areas I had to go as low as 150g to knock down the worst of the orange peel. The good thing is though, the rest of the grits don't take long at all once the orange peel is gone so HOPEFULLY i'll be in the thousand grits by the weekend, I'm only at 320g just now but almost finished with this grit.
Ive sanded through on a couple of small areas but rather than do another full coat of gel I will just attempt some repairs on these areas.
Here is a couple of pics but not much difference apart from it is all white now.
I'll try and post back with some decent updates soon.
