Pretty simple stuff here are automotive car amps allowed in a engine bay by the coast gaurd...or do they to have be marine certified.
As long as there is no cooling fan (the motor is a potential ignition source), you should be okay.

Every amp I've seen (and I've seen A LOT) has used a small DC brushless fan... Zero chance of sparks, as the fan is essentially solid state, minus a bearing.
