Yes, I should include a pic. Lets get that overwith now.

On the underside of my engine cover (see sig for video...it's the narrow cover the canuck lifts up over the engine compartment at 45 seconds into the review, some might call it a sun cushion...it's the cover behind the rear seats) there is a fungus growing. I peeled it off and it grew back, thanks to the recent deluge of rains here in North California. Whats the best thing to apply to kill the root fungus? I'm sure it's in the wood. It's growing right along the piano-hinge and is a flat, kind of rubbery mushroom-like stuff that peels off easy and will grow back remarkably fast. I have not found it anywhere else.

Thanks
(And FINALLY glad to "de-winterize" here in the Sac area...in JUNE!)

Lawn/Garden fungicide, should be able to find something at a hardware store, or the like.
Some diluted bleach might do the trick as well.

Thanks! I'll try the garden stuff. I'm afraid that bleach will rot the fabric / stitching. Does vinegar kill fungus?

There's some moisture buckets (damp-rid brand) you can get to place in the affected area while it's in storage. They're made for bathrooms, but I've used them in all sorts of 'damp' places... Being it doesn't touch the boat, it will probably work wonders and not affect the boat condition.

First, be sure to wear the proper type mask while cleaning to avoid contaminating yourself with spores. Where's theres fungus, there's usually molds. I would use 1:1 hydrogen peroxide / water mix and scrub like mad with any bristle brush that won't hurt the topcoat/gelcoat/surface, then wipe clean - after removing the existing, I would just place a damp-rid near the area whenever it's stored to prevent the grow-back---

So here's what it looks like:

I found it after having the cover on all winter, peeled it off, and then a nasty rain storm came through *again* and it grew back in a few days. Just want to kill it to the root this time!
