I will no longer give Chevron a penny of my business.

This morning I go to fuel my scoot, which is an episode since I have to put it on its center stand, take off my gloves, get out my wallet, get out my card, scan it, put it back in my wallet, my wallet back under my seat, unlock the gas cap with the ignition key, put the key and cap on top the gas pump, etc etc etc.

I do all that, but when I scan my card, it said on the little screen it was unable to authorize it at this time, please pay after fueling. Ok cool. I lift the nozzle, select the grade of fuel and the screen changes to "waiting for authorization (from whatever employee or whatever)". So I stand there with the nozzle, and I wait, and I wait and I wait. Finally I figure she can't see me so I reinstall my fuel cap, lock my seat and go inside. I take off my helmet and ask her to turn on my pump and she stands with her arms crossed "all pumps are pay before you pump!" (with an attitude) I told her that's not what the screen said. She said "all pumps say prepay sir." I said your screen doesn't say that. She repeated herself and I said fyuk this and I walked out.

Anybody who calls me a liar will not get my business. I'm done with Chevron and am going to do my best to badmouth that company for the rest of my life.

Autozone is also on my shyt list for the same reason, bad customer service.

What does that have to do with Chevron? I think your beef is with the gas station owner. They decide if you need to pre-pay or not.

Around the stations in the city have been prepay ever since drive-offs have become a problem.

Re: Screw you Chevron!

If I boycotted a company everytime a rude employee offended me, I'd be a hermit. Blame the gas thieves that prompted the pay before you pump policy. I'm fortunate enough to live in a community where that has not happened yet. But I drive to cities where some do that and some don't. I aim for the ones that don't. I wonder how much business is lost when a station adopts that policy. I like to fill my tank. How do you predetermine how much it's going to cost? Too much hassle, so I take my business elsewhere.

The attendant was probably given no lattitude on who should and should not get a pass on pay before you pump. A manager would probably realize that a motorcycle won't hold more than $10 of gas and turned it on for you. Who's gonna drive off owing 7 or 8 bucks for gas? Sheesh!

I'll bet the attendant is in a bulletproof cage? I avoid those at ALL costs! If they're that afraid of their clientelle, so am I!

I Agree,... I avoid the Pre-pay stations.......

The "You do know they can give back change?" arguement just Doesn't stand up with some attendants,.....
Last summer I needed to fill a 5gal. can or 2,....
The Pre-pay station was Right next to the Jobsite, so I went there.....
I went in,+ offered $40.00 Deposit on the Fill-up, as I didn't know what it would take,.......
The Response was,....Sure I'll take your $40.,+ set the pump to $40.00...... But,... There'll be No Change,... Once it's In the system, it's Gone......

That's when I used the Same response as WITF,......
and I said fyuk this and I walked out.

What Pony said.

Suppose you were trying to buy Bayer aspirin at a Wal Mart. The Clerk is rude. Would it make sense to be mad at Bayer?

I certainly agree with boycotting that station or maybe complaining to the owner about the rude clerk, but neither of them is a Chevron employee or represents Chevron policy.

Re: Bad Chevron!

giving up chevron won't affect the gal who was rude to ya, but if it makes you feel better that's enough reason right there, IMHO.

chevron lost my business about 6 years ago when they added a $5 late fee 'cause I paid $35.29 cents instead of $35.92 leaving a 63¢ balance. I called & asked 'em to remove the $5, but nooooooooo they don't do that. I closed the account on the spot. But it took 'em 2 more months to do the paperwork, which of course they added $5 per month late fees. So I had a $15.63 balance which I didn't pay until two years ago when I needed improve my credit score to get a better rate on a mortgage refi. Clever policy they have there, improved their bottom line by $15 over six years at a cost of only $7,000 or $8,000 in revenue.

All exchange relies on the integrity of the participants. Suppose you handed the employee a hundred dollars and went out to fill you tank. When the pump didn't come on how would you prove you paid. Did you ever wonder why banks chain their pens to the counter and then give them away at Fairs? I too avoid local merchants who insist on being pre-paid. Out of town I use a credit card and this is not 100 percent fool proof. There is only one profession that relies on being paid first. ;)
EDIT: I too avoid Chevron because the attitudes of the employees affect the attitude of the franchise holders and so on....

Mine doesn't. They just keep a bucket of give-away pens on the counter.

We are not all so fortunate. Do other banks in your area do the same? Have you noticed an increase in you banking fees? Are the lines longer at your bank than at competing banks?
Am I on you IM?

I don't know of one pay after you pump station in CA. Try Arco, cash or ATM or nuttin'. Sometimes stuff is broked, sometimes people are azzhoes. My lifetime plan for azzhoes is kill 'em with kindness. If they can't finger it out, who's the one with the problem? It's not gonna be me . . .

Oh, I go to the gas station that is closest to where I am when I decide I need fuel. Unless Chevron delivers waterinthefuel to their franchisee, I am not going out of my way to avoid anybody.

And as long as there is no resistance it will continue to be that way. Edit reserved.

Re: Bad Chevron!

For some reason the debit card I always use for gas stopped working at the pumps. I can swipe it anywhere else and it works fine, but it always comes back denied at any gas pump. (and it used to work fine) At Chevron I waited for 5 minutes and then gave the idiot my card, because I can't even pump my own friggin gas here. I tell him 40 bucks and then he wonders off to conversate with the other retarded employees. About 10 minutes later I find out no gas has been pumped, because my card wasn't approved.

So I go inside, where three other people are already waiting. The clerk is nowhere to be found. After 5 minutes an attendant wonders in and everybody jumps down his throat. He yells for the idiot who's supposed to be in there and she casually wonders out of the bathroom with a look like "oh, am I supposed to be doing something?"

Now they want to "approve" my card by putting a hold on the 40 bucks before they will pump the gas. The idiot manages to do it twice, temporarily removing $80 from my account. She then tells the attendant to pump my gas while I wait in there. Now that the gas is in my tank my card is denied, because the idiot put all the cash on hold. WHY CAN'T THEY JUST TAKE IT TO BEGIN WITH?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?

I just happened to have a giant box of change in my truck, so I went out and got $40 in nickels. They were all nicely rolled up, but I dumped them all into a paper bag for the idiot to count. 8) I threw it on the counter and said "have fun with that b****" and left. I should have left without paying anything, I never said they could have an $80 loan interest free. :|

No more Chevron for me either. That's the second time something similar like that has happened at two different chevrons!
