Re: baja hammer 22 feet with a 7.4 liter
Well... yeah, that makes sense. A 23P prop would spin you to 64 MPH if you were over-revving that thing, as you are. Properly held to 4900 RPM, you'd max out around 61 MPH. Try not to over rev it again. Don't usually see a 23p prop on a Merc outdrive churning and burning a boat to 64.
Instinct alone says you should run a 25p, but that will knock off only about 200-250 RPM, and even that sounds too small, because you will still over-rev the engine at wide open throttle.
A 26P, 4-blade Bravo prop would be sweet on that baby. You would run into the 70's with great hole shot and midrange and bring the RPM down to a number that won't destroy your engine. Can you confirm your prop? Is it a Mirage or Mirage Plus??
Some of them Hammers are 22' LOA but even smaller if you just measure boat, so you got some grunt in a light package. I'd really like to have you give the #'s stamped on the prop and confirm it's a Mirage or Mirage Plus.
