I see kits on ebay for my alpha one outdrive. Prices range from ninety bucks up to two hundred bucks and both offer the same. But one is mmercruser and other is after market. Anyone ever buy the cheaper one? Just thought id ask thanks

Re: bellows question. ebay

I used aftermarket bellows for my Volvo. I got them from NAPA, and they where fine. They looked identical to factory and fit perfect. I think if they are made by a known aftermarket company, you should be ok. The NAPA ones were actually Sierra. But I am sure someone will disagree with me. But with factory mercruiser bellows, you know what to expect. Its kind of a catch 22. For $60, you could replace them 4 times, for the price of 1 Mercruiser kit. Back to what I was saying, I had absolutely no problems using aftermarket bellows on my VP.

Sierra is a reputable aftermarket and has good products. I would stay away from any others. The real cost here is the labor if you are not going to do it yourself. If the cheapies fail you will be paying again and also your could ruin your gimble bearing and u-joints. Also there is going to be the slim possibility of a catastrophic failure causing you to sink although it is unlikely.

I used Sierra bellows. It has only been a year, but no problems yet.
