Berkeley JE series jet for my boat

Last year I stumbled upon a JE series jetdrive and was in a pinch moneywise rebuilding my boat project. Low and behold I think it just turned up again. I have some questions that hopefully some you folks may be able to assist me with. I plan on installing this drive in my project boat that I purchased last year and the JE looks like it will work well. I am replacing a OMC cobra outdrive on a 19' aluminum deep v-hull so I can play in shallows and such without worry of killing a prop. The engine will be a little under powered since it's a 2.3l Ford, but this is playtime with little investment so I'm not going to be hurting should it not work and the is always a turbocharger option or the at the worst hand the OMC back on it and find another sucker.

On the JE pump what are the things one would look at if you were buying one? I am always on the look out for obvious wear and damage. It appears to be complete in the pictures I have a good working knowledge with pumps and such. I thought I'd get some informed opinions.

There is always room for more hp. This one is not the same as the one I looked at last year that one was turned by a 455 olds. $200 for the thing I can't go wrong I could part it for that.

Okay so supposing I get this thing layed in there and powered up I can match the impeller to the engine hp right?

Will a jet-o-vator adapt to these drives?

Ayuh,.... Lookin' at the pictures of the JG, 'n the JE, I believe the jet-o-vator is able to bolt on,....
There's Lotsa great info at that link,...

I'd think with that motor, yer gonna need a C cut, or maybe C- cut, to get it to spin,...
Ya just keep cuttin' the impeller smaller, 'n smaller, til the motor can Spin it,...

I was looking at the power curve charts if I'm reading correctly an E impeller is almost down to my puny motors power curve. The only thing it has going for it is the rpms it can spin are up there pretty good. I left enough room in the engine bay for a larger motor should I not have enough power for what I want. I would like to be able to run 40mph.

Nevermind I just found the chart on that says D and E are no longer available.

Well i bought the thing some bonehead did a little clearancing on the tilt yoke. I am not sure whether I have a place diverter or a Jet-O-Vator so if any of you could set me straight that would be cool. I did get a section of the hull it was attached to so I can figure out how to fit it to my boat.

Re: Berkeley JE series jet for my boat

If you look at it close you can see it has the tilt yoke for the nozzle. I don't think I'll need a jetovator or pd. Thanks on the I'd confirm. Has anyone here got a guess on the speed I could get out of this thing? I may look at switching over to a sbc for power.

This is what I will be putting the Berkeley in 1990 Blue fin Spectrum 19ft. Not typical for a Berkeley I guess, but I think it will be the perfect for what I want to do. I will not perform the conversion until next fall /winter since I need to plan to make this work well.

Nope,... It has the swivel for turnin', 'n a reverse bucket,...
What yer callin' the tilt yoke, is the Reverse bucket,...

That pump can Not use a place diverter, not a jet-o-vator,...

The nozzle goes left, right, up, down. in addition to the reverse bucket operating. Someone has hacked the tilt ring to get more angle out of it so i guess I'll be able to put fires out on shore now.
