Re: Bilge

If you have a cruiser, it's possible that the shower drains into bilge, sinks drain into bilge, A/C drains into bilge...

But more info would be helpful.

Re: Bilge

Why Bilge Get Full Of Water From Where. Possible Stupid Question

Every single through-the-hull fitting need to be checked.

Also, need to know if engine-drive coupling (i/o) or engine-propshaft-stuffingbox are sealed or leaking....

Pics might help, and everyone here loves to see them...

Re: Bilge

Also transom hatches. I have an 8x14 hatch in the bottom of my splash well that leaks slightly in heavy seas. I am aware of it and have yet to replace the gasket, but I know it holds water in there and the 7 yr old gasget doesn't seal as well as it should. Also, deck plates leak. Those round 8" plates have been known to let some water in as well...

Re: Bilge

He is saying water comes in from the top of the boat too. If you washed the boat or it rained and you did not drain the bilge that is a possible source. I say fix the leaky screws because it doesn't take long to build up a lot of water from even a small leak.

Re: Bilge

yes it has a couple of holes but i did not think it would acumilate lot of water in so little time. i only back up the trailer and release the boat it was about 10minute time. i used my bilge pump and remove the boat in the parking lot i unplug it about 3 gallon came out.could it be the screws i will find out today i will lift the bow so high and fill the bilge area so high that i should see something comeing out.the hole are wright at the water line seen water coming in but not constant.

Re: Bilge

You're not going to get in that much water from screw holes, unless there are no screws in them. Look for cracks in the bellows, cracks in the gelcoat, possibly a leaking garboard plug, or even water leaks from the cooling hoses/exhaust risers on the engine. Easiest way to find out is to get the boat completely dry in the bilge and put it in the water with the engine off. Get a flashlight and start looking for water coming in (sitting still at the dock). If still dry, start the engine and let it idle at the dock and start looking again. If all is good after 10 min or so, have someone start driving the boat around slowly while you keep looking. Eventually you will see where it's coming in.

My personal opinion? water leaking from the engine cooling system or exhaust.

Umm, am I the only one who has noticed that this thread is 2 and a half years old? Did it take the OP THAT long to decide to fix his leak?
