I'm in the middle of getting my 1967 Sea Ray SRV 180 I/O ready to try out. I got it last fall, and it's in pretty sweet shape. The only floor rot I could find was section just forward of the engine cover. Seems they drilled some holes in the floor for a block to keep the cover in place. I'm in the process of repairing that section as I write. The Mercruiser 160hp runs and idles nicely, and it mechanically, it seems to function very well...from what I can tell from running it on the hose, anyway.

Here is the boat:

The P/O had the drive setup recently serviced with new cables, gimbal bearings, u-joints, u-joint bellows, exhaust bellows, water pump, shift cable and bellows, and much more, so it runs great.

Also, are these boats common in BLACK? I've never seen a black one and they look cool as Hell. (unless you sit on the edge with a bare leg in the hot sun!) I've even got the original little top that came with it...a bit ragged, but enough there to get a pattern to make a perfect one like the original.

I'll post some photos of it soon when we ger her out for a test run.

Excellent eye catching boat. Looks in good shape, as folks have said. Definitely restore and keep it in original shape :)

I want to do it JUST like the original. I've got some stripes on the side that aren't exactly my thing. I'd like to have it just like the brochure boat with the flag on it and everything.

Funny thing, the whole topside/deck part is very nice black gelcoat. However, the below the bump strip is painted, and the RED part of the stripe is gelcoat. Maybe it came that way? I can't imagine a two tone black and red one of these. I think it was painted at some point, because you can see where a kicker motor mount was installed at one point and the holes were filled and painted over.

Anyway, thanks for the comments! I fell in love with the boat when I first saw it, and drove from Michigan to Wisconsin to pick it up.

Update....

Splashed the 'ol 67 Sea Ray...it ran GREAT. The floor is all repaired and probably MUCH stronger than the original. Solid as a rock, it it. All the gauges and functions A-ok. 160 degrees cruising temp, oil pressure and charging right on. Shiftng and everything is as it should be.

Here's some pics of the outing!

Hi,
I own a black 1968 SRV 180 I/O. I dig my retro black batmobile. I am having a problem finding a replacement for the breathable oil cap. Do you have any suggestions.
THANKS,
Dominic Pezen
