Re: Black Max 150 XR2 Stalls

Ok...
The lowdown is that I am only hitting on 3 cylinders. When on a load I am dropping the other 3.

This is telling me that either I have a bad switchbox or that the trigger is bad.

I lucked up and Emmett at Mississippi Marine had a good used trigger for me to try. If this is not the solution then its new switchboxes for me.

My Daughter has had ballgames and I had a friend that passed away so I had to go by the funeral home. No time these last couple of days.

I am going to install the New trigger tomorrow after work and before Church and try it out Thurs morning at the lake.

Wish me luck.

A trigger will drop 2 at a time. (2 cylinders run off the same winding). A stator will drop 3 at a time. A switchbox can drop 3 at a time.

This is where a DVA is invaluable. If the trigger and stator readings are good, then it's the switchbox, plain and simple.

hope it helps

Re: Black Max 150 XR2 Stalls

After 2 switch boxes installed, a new trigger and the new stator from earlier in my post, We rode in the boat for hours today. At first I thought that my link and sync was off, but it sneezed once and jumped right up and planed right up. Even pulled my girls in the tube.

My only problem now is the little connection between the carbs and the oil pump. It looks like a little tie rod. It keeps popping off on deceleration.

Thank God i was running it with the covers off.

Check the adjustment of that rod. I don't think it should ever hit a stop that would pop it off. It's critical for oil proportion.

Has anyone a pic of how this little tie rod is supposed to be installed ?

It looks odd to me. The oil tube is going thru it... If that makes sense.

Looks like it should be more parallel.

The linkage now that I think of it, just looks odd.

This is near perfect !!
Whoops did say that too loud ?

Another great evening at the lake.

I believe we have tamed the beast.
Only 500 in parts. Good thing I'm a decent wrench spinner. I cringe to think about the labor costs on what I have done.

Thanks Mr JMartin , I appreciate your invaluable posts. I have l learned a great deal.

Those happy smiling faces on my 2 daughters is worth it all. :)
