OK CHILDREN..... enough... the op has already determined that his blower is wired correctly so please take your fight to pm

As to the issue at hand....

The gas fumes are heavier than air and settle to the lowest part of the bilge... the blower "vacuums" them out and discharges overboard. To only force fresh air in would oxygenate the fumes and spread them throughout the engine compartment potentialy increasing the danger of explosion....

.even with the squirrel cage backwards....is infinitly safer than having the motor forcing bilge fumes back into the engine bay.".
Running it backward does NOT move any air !!. It's just making noise like it is doing something .

Where do you get your info from ??.

I have to guess that this is your admission that this is better than forcing the air back into the engine bay? That was my point, and what you are admitting....

....

No need to go any further...he has ceased to be amusing!

It is normal to disagree...but it is not normal for the level of incivility that he introduced way back when. That was uncalled for, and speaks volumes about him.

The blower's fan configuration is designed to move air in one direction, hence the arrow. Even if the motor were reversed by switching the hot and ground, it would not work properly...

Turn the frickin' blower around!

Can someone please switch off the "Rocky and Wayne Show"?

One of the reasons you don't want the blower pushing air into the engine compartment is that this may pressurize the compartment. That will lead to the fumes escaping through any and all opening in the compartment, such through limber holes into occupied space or the rest of the bilge area.

Wow, I agree...

Give it rest, I have all the answers that are needed. It was more of a question to back up my theroy that it was blowing in, instead of out and that seemed wrong to me. Which we all have agreed that it is.
I have turned the blower motor around and all is well.

To the children, both of you got to your rooms and no dinner until you learn your lessons.

Mods, please fell free to close this at any time. Thanks
