Re: Boat I bought to restore

isnt it amazing how many pople will burn thousands on a boat,,,then leave it undcovered! in snow rain wind and dust...flippin stupid..

speaking of covered boats.....my brother actually might have been an innovator, when we lived in St CLair shores, in about 1981, he started a boat cover business shrink wrapping...as you know SCS has boatloads of boats...anyways...never seen wraps before 1981...and I worked at BROWNIES on the Lake as a busboy, so I was in the marinas between work and fishing for bass.......anyways....sending some warm Vegas weather your way! lol

Re: Boat I bought to restore

Once again, thanks for all the kind words everybody!

zach, I do have the old gauges btw, what's up?

Anyways, I haven't been on in awhile...busy..with work thank god.
Also, my only computer had some sort of hard drive malfunction and I finally got it up and running about 2 minutes ago and thought...I should see how everyone's doing at Iboats..

As for the boat. she's almost done. I still have to put the instrument panel in, but that is going to be almost last.
I think I have some finished shots, so I will post them tomorrow when I get a few more minutes.

I have the compressor set up almost done, but tomorrow I am going to make a bracket assembly that will hold the tank and the compressor unit. I am going to make it tomorrow in my welding class...The welding lab at school is quite a machine shop and the instructor is pretty cool, I help him around the shop and he helps build or fix pretty much anything I can throw at him.

Awhile back I bought a new AFI 1000 wiper motor off ebay that somebody dropped and broke the mounting ear off of. I took it to class and the teacher used his plastic welder to make a new mounting ear, and a little spray paint later, the motor is like new again.

Well, I'm getting soooooo excited that April is almost here!!!!!!!! The boat is going in on the 15th!!!!!

I will definitely take some video and upload it

Thanks! I haven't been around lately but it's almost ready to go in the water. I'm not in the building anymore, its now at the marina. I had to get out of the building I was in because we rented the space. I am going down there Friday, then she'll go in the water the last week of April!

I'll post new pics soon!

Re: Boat I bought to restore

Hey everybody!, long time no post, I know but have been busy getting the boat in the water. I finally got it in yesterday and took it for a short cruise and after a few small adjustments, all was good. The boat got up on plane quickly and rode nice.

Here are a few pics... I will take some video next week of the motors running and getting up on plane as well as cruising by the Ambassador bridge.

That's the marina owner Len, he's a nice guy, got the boat ready yesterday morning. The old guy at the helm is my dad, he was as excited as me!

Well, that's if for now, I will get some more pics this weekend.

I wanted to thank everyone at this forum for all the help and kind words, this project was a big exhausting one and wouldn't have been possible without it. It also provides good reading material as well!

Re: Boat I bought to restore

Well as with boat restorations, I will probably never be completely finished...Here are some pictures of the air compressor that I fabricated for the air horns. I TIG welded the frame system together and tapped threads for the tank and the compressor to bolt to the frame with.

Tomorrow, we are going to stay on the boat, so I am going to get some more pics of the inside and outside of the boat.

Hopefully some good ones of being out on the water.
