I know all about the snow. :)

Damn man that boat is going to be slick. You want to just keep it in the marina and enjoy the interior :)

Keepin' it in the marina...Well that's Great Lakes boating at its finest!

Re: Boat I bought to restore

That is one major project but I'm impressed by the way you are tackling it head-on...this will be one to keep after all this great work:D

Your workspace is nothing short of cavernous, you could rebuild a b-2 bomber in there. Glad to see you making such good progress and can't wait to see her all finished. It is really cool that you've got the whole family involved, I wish I had a brother around I could assign jobs to LOL:D

I will go back to work on my 16' rig and dream of owning a monstrous aft-cabin cruiser someday:)

Thanks!, yeah, the workspace is awesome, its about 10,500 square feet where I have the boat...I had to actually clean recently because it looked like the boat exploded parts all over the warehouse!

Yes...for some reason my brother seems to actually enjoy cleaning so I figured I wouldn't disappoint him!

robthompson66,
As always, great work. The boat looks great.
I do have one question though. The pic of the potty, won't the water run out of it on it's side like that. :D:p:D
Just kidding.
Great job.

ha ha, yeah that's why the toilet is dry of course! I fixed it though so no worries!

No names yet but my father, who I am doing this resto with has a couple. I will post when we decide. should be soon.
I just bought a few things for the boat but I just got real busy with work and school so no new pics uploaded yet. Sorry:(

Will post soon though!

I agree great thread but he needs to work less and update more. How are we all supposed to keep up when he drops in once a month with massive updates.

Re: Boat I bought to restore

Hey everybody, so.....I got a few here so here's the pics of what I have completed in the past couple weeks.

Here's a pic of the cockpit with the canvas enclosure installed. I replaced the eisinglass and it looks great! It helps that I have a commercial sewing machine so getting through the layers of canvas and plastic was easy.

The windshields are installed and the frame is all painted and clearcoated. The cockpit is just about complete now.

I still have some more stuff to install and the old instrument panel is still in place but I just got the rest of my wiring this afternoon so I am going to finish that later.

The cockpit sole is finished now too. I painted it with interlux perfection mixed with some silica sand and it turned out really nice.

Got a good deal on this carbon monoxide detector. I figured that this would be a necessity since I plan on spending a lot of time on the boat this summer.

I got a great deal on this as well. It has a counter and high water alarm as well.

The other thing I want to add is a raw water flow blockage alarm to each of the engines. That is the last of the safety gear for now. I also have fire extinguishers and I need smoke detectors. I haven't bought smoke detectors yet and was wondering if anyone knew what was a good one to buy?

I bought a AFI 1000 wiper motor on ebay last week and am still waiting for that one to arrive. I still need a new wiper arm though.

The light at the end of the tunnel is beginning to emerge but my updates have been slow. I am a carpenter and just started another big kitchen remodel, so the last few days have been hectic. I'm waiting on the flooring guys to finish the wood floors so I've got a day of downtime tomorrow so I am going to continue working on buffing out the gelcoat. I got a makita polishing wheel for Christmas so it's been going pretty well. The gelcoat is coming back nicely, but I have had to use Meguiar's number 10 diamond cut compound which is their heaviest cut they offer.
I'll post some pics after the long day tomorrow
Later

Yeah, It would have to be your daughter or your imagination. :D
robthompson66,
I bet you could make some extra money with those talents. That seat looks great. Right along with everything else.
Great Job

Ahhh, yes... nice thought:)

Thanks for the compliments; I picked up a commercial sewing machine from an estate sale a few years ago for $25 and started playing with sewing some canvas and fixing some boat stuff. The seat I just took apart and copied the cuts and sewed it back together the same way it was before and it turned out pretty nice.

I'm going to try my hand at actually making a boat cover from scratch soon for my brothers bow rider and if it turns out nice I may eventually make a new canvas enclosure for this one.
