My wife and I are considering a name for our cruiser: "Lubricious". The name fits us perfectly, but we're concerned about the possibility of offending others. Anyone have any thoughts? Thanks.

sounds good to me. you will have people wondering what it means.

i have not named my boat, but my wife suggests " MY LUST TOY". she actually means that this boat is my last toy. for now she's right.

Its your boat, names are your choice. Don't be concerned with others "feelings" It's a bloody name, thats all. Be careful.....the Liberals will lobby for name control of watercraft next.

Did they tie the boat off to that post? I don't think when you bury a post 3 feet deep into a boat, that you really need to tie the boat off to the post. Maybe I'm just insane though. :D

Re: Boat name: too much?

I think the name sounds great! My first boat was named NAU SEA I had an outboard at the time and it was lettered the way you see it here with the motor inbetween the letters. Although not offensive it made you think for a second before finally realizing that put together, it spells NAUSEA. I stole the name from a cartoon. For those of us who remember watching the Flintstones, it was the name of their boat. As far as mildly offensive names, my buddy just got a boat and is naming it suck or swim. He's trying to figure out the spelling to make it look less offensive, i.e. suck-er-swim, sucker swim, or suck or swim. Not my first choice of names, but still a little funny.

Is there some kind of rule as to how large a boat must be in order to be named? Can't say that I have seen any 17' with a name on it.

I think it has to do with the fact that when someone has a small one, they do not wish to call attention to themselves.
