Re: Boat names.

All of the trees that were milled into lumber for our steam launch were problems for someone else. Most were going to be cut up for firewood. The double reference to fire gave the launch the name "Phoenix". I hope she does last another 500 years!

Some names just happen. Our 71 MFG was given to us years ago. WE never named it, just referred to it as "the orange boat". Friends stopping by our place would ask "where's Orange Boat?" if they could not see it right away. The name stuck.

Re: Boat names.

A friend of mine recently bought a new boat and while talking to the registration people they asked him if he had a name for it. He replied not yet. When he got the paper work back there it was. Name of boat - Knot Yet. He says he's going to keep the name.

My Bayliner is named Double Jeopardy. No, I didn't win it on jeopardy.

Re: Boat names.

I tend not to name boats under 25 feet and I'm too cheap to spend the money on one that size so, no names for me!

A couple of names that I really like though, are "Querida," which means "mistress" in Spanish, and "Drain Surgeon," a name coined for his boat by a plumber that I once met.

Re: Boat names.

We have two: a 1975 Galaxie tri-hull named FireFry (because it is flame orange), and a 1975 Steary tri-hull named LemonDrop.

Bottom Line

Bottom Line

Great Topic, My 1981 SeaRay 25' is named 'Bottom Line'. Originally owned by Russ Thomas (GM of the Detroit Lions), really. It has been in marinas from Florida to Ohio (Put-In Bay, Lake Erie) to Northern Michigan (Presque Isle, Lake Huron) to current home Muskegon Mich (Great Lakes, Lake Michigan). Bottom Line still fishes frequently.

Re: Boat names.

Our SeaRay is named "The Texas Belle". We patterned the font after the popular taco restaurant that funded the purchase years ago. Our Starcraft was included in the purchase of our Missouri lake house. She's named "MO Belle".

Happy to help keep this ancient thread alive!:)

Several years after I started this thread I acquired a Boston Whaler Tender 11, which I named "WeeBit". Then, a few years after that I did a Boston Whaler Striper 15, which I named "RED SKY".

Re: Boat names.

I don't know if i'd call it a "name" per-se, but there's a sticker on my transom that reads "CHECK THE PLUG" - so i'll go with that :)

Our 1988 VIP Vision 1750..named Barbara Ann in memory of my mother. She loved the water and she taught us to respect the water even though she had almost drowned when she was a kid.

My Glastron boat was named "Make it Happen" as a positive message to everybody, I mean; believe in your dreams, have a goal and reach it!

Re: Boat names.

Wow, I (and my family) have always called it "the boat". Maybe if I had two I would get more creative!

But I also have "the canoe" the "red Kayak" the "blue kayak" and the "the orange kayak", so maybe not.
