Re: Boat Names

Almost two years ago, my kidneys failed and my health has been declining ever since. I've had to give up drinking, smoking (a blessing there) and most physical activities including hunting, basketball and golf. I realized that one of the few pleasures I had left was feeding worms to the 'bows, brownies and landlocked salmon (I'm strictly catch-and-release). And since I can no longer hike into my favorite flyfishing spots, I bought a '78 Grady White with a 470 Mercruiser so I can get to the deep holes in a hurry and then putt putt for hours. I don't wish this ailment on anybody else, so my boat is appropriately named "Slainte" - the Gaelic word that loosely translates into "To your health".;)

Re: Boat Names

I have a 78 starcraft holiday 18, it's riveted aluminum, I was thinking of naming it "leaky Rivets"

I'm working on getting a 12 foot aluminum boat as well, still need to come up with a name for that one, maybe something like "uss sieve" my dad had a boat for 15 years, he completly restored it, and it never left the garage, it never saw the water once, and the only time it left the driveway was the day he sold it, it was named, "USS Sieve" looking back on that thing now, I think I know why it never left the garage ..........maybe that's not such a good name for the 12 footer I want to get.

Re: Boat Names

I saw a great one in Lake St. Clair once. It was on a bright yellow Baja.

It was called:

"Liquor In the Front, Poker In The Rear"

Re: Boat Names

Anybody believe it's bad luck to rename a boat? I want to rename my boat "wee bairn" (gaelic for little baby). She's my baby. She's now named "Jack's Joy". I don't know jack.

Re: Boat Names

Over Labor Day weekend a pretty good sized cruiser went aground down the river from my house. Don't know what the circumstances were that caused to to go aground, but on the transom the boats name was "B. C. Worthy" I thought it was kind of ironic.

Re: Boat Names

My wife who "absolutely loves my boats" not!!!!! wants me to name the little boat B.O.A.T for (Break Out Another Thousand) and the big boat B.O.A.S.T for yes (Break Out Another Several Thousand). I just can't bear my self to hail somebody with "this is the vessel BOAT" or have the dock think I have a small apenisitis with BOAST on the back on my larger vessel.

Re: Boat Names

I finally decided on a name for mine last week. She shall henceforth be known as "Sick Day." A close second choice was "Taxpayer Money," because I am a municipal employee.

Re: Boat Names

My first boat was named "The Turd" because it was so ugly. 16 foot lime green Lone Star with an old 59 Evinrude. Ran great, but it sure was ugly! Haven't gotten around to naming this one yet. But with that nasty lime green anti-fouling paint on the bottom, Turd 2 may not be a stretch!
