Looks like it was run with no oil or oil that was low. Had you checked that lately?
I'll be the first to say that not only am I NOT an expert but I have as much to learn as the rest of you!!I hope that when I have a boat for 4 to 5 years from now I will know has much as you all do.

here is the one I found on Ebay. Let me know what yall think. I really dont have the money to buy a complete new unit. Beach vacation coming up.
BTW.. I have likely the worst spelling and punctuation on here..
Just an aside.......if you're using Firefox, it spell-checks as you type. I am not using Microshaft Windblows but I think Firefox will do it on any operating system it's used on.....
scorethey had a complete 4.3 OMC sterndrive. I got it for $ 500.
I came up with 2200 ish.. That's with shipping and everything.. Maybe a forgot a $800 kit, But I don't think so...will be around $3000 for everything
Make sure you know how to fill it with lube properly. You don't fill it ftom the bottom like a Merc. You fill it from the middle.I want to think everyone who gave me advice on this post. I went by local marine shop today and just so happen they had a complete 4.3 OMC sterndrive. I got it for $ 500. Hope to make it through summer with no more problems (knock on wood). Anyways thanks again.

First thing I would do is check the level of your drive oil. The drive oil level should be checked EVERY time you take the boat out!The first and easiest thing to check is to, put in gear (out of water and not running ofcourse) see if you can turn the prop by hand.
Alright, I checked the oil and it showed nothing. So I took the plate off of the top of the drive and still found no oil, but I did find a bunch of metal shavings. The teeth on the gears in the upper appear to be intact, so I am not sure where the metal shavings are from. I did put it in gear and I was able to turn the prop by hand, but it did take some muscle to turn it. Any suggestions of what to do next?
but I do know I filled the oil from the bottom plug last year.
