i saw that part of the bush river was frozen last week. The upper tributaries were iced over. But as you made your way to open water the ice just stoped.
I was not out there, just passing over the river on 40.

Re: Boating the Upper Chesapeake

Merry Christmas everyone. I hope your boats are sleeping under the tarps all snug dreaming of warm weather again. I am redoing the vinyl in my boat this winter. I have been to Joanns but still looking for a place with a good Vinyl selection in the area where I might be able to match the seats in my boat. If you have any experience with vinyl replacement please drop me a message or a email or a link here.

Thanks hope to meet some of you this spring. Time to fire up the wood stove and start working on the boat so its ready for spring.

I am spray painting my vinyl. They sell this fabric and vinyl spray paint at auto zone. and it works pretty good. Makes the fasbric look like new. I just painted my seats, and the trim.

I may have to try that on my trim. My seats are too far gone.

the bush river had 2-4 inches of ice on it today. The whole river.
You could have probally have walked across it. I walked out on it 10 ft or so.

Do you have any pics of how it turned out?

i was watching some hunters launch their boats today at the hgd park. There was ice around the boat ramp, going about 50 ft out. Then it was ice free. They had to ram the ice with the boat and trailer, and sent a wave underneath the ice, to break it up enough to get the boat off the trailer.

Kinda a neat sight. they had aluminum boats too.

Kyle-
Did you by any chance notice if my boat was iced in? it's at the pier next to the ramp.
I haven't been down there since our 'big' snow storm a couple weeks ago.

Hey thanks!
I was starting to get a little worried about it.
Usually my ice eaters are in by Xmas but not this year.

what is an ice eater?
YOu should have seen the marina at otter point on the bush. The only ice free spots were where they had those pumps on. And after you got 100 ft from the pump, it was iced up again.

A sealed electric motor with a propeller. It hangs in the water and prevents the water from freezing.

It moves the water so it doesn't freeze basically.
