Re: Boating the Upper Chesapeake

We are all still talking about Sat. the 9th right?

I'm still planning for October 9th, although my hope is dimming that I'll have my boat put back together by then. :(

I just wanted to make sure. I have it freed up and should be ok. I am gonna drop in De. City and make the run down the C&D to Lloyds Creek if that is where we are all getting together.

I guess that means that you will be bringing the V20 then?

Were you able to see Rob's boat to know if everything is ok? I am sure he has his lines tied properly, but that it some pretty high water.

Stacey took the picture. She couldn't get any closer. She looked at his boat yesterday evening when they said it would be higher than normal and everything looked fine.

It is coming down harder right now than it has all day...

Then I'll put in at Chesapeake City....

Y?all are crazy lol. I don?t know how many times I have to tell you all, that the ramp is a free public ramp. There is no such thing as free to Delaware resident's thing in Delaware. Its either you need a park pass or you don?t (driving on beaches or gated state parks require passes) ramps are free.
I live a 100' from the ramp. There are people from all over that drop in every day.

Y'all do what you want though lol

Re: Boating the Upper Chesapeake

not start anything here. but the ramps are FREE to boats registered in Delaware. Out of staters have to pay..

DELAWARE BOAT RAMP CERTIFICATES

ANNUAL FEE: $35.75 (LISTED FEE INCLUDES MANDATORY LICENSE FEE & AGENT'S FEE )

This certificate enables any out-of-state registered vessel to access Delaware waters from any one of 51 State-Owned boat ramp facilities.
NOTE: Boats registered in Delaware do not require this ramp certificate and may access State ramps at no cost.

Well then, here's to hoping that it weathers the storm perfectly. I have no doubt that it will as Rob is a very knowledgeable guy especially with the water of the upper Chesapeake Bay. ;)

Tell Stacey THANKS!
It's nice to know that you guys keep an eye on my boat. I wasn't able to run there until early this morning. Everythings A-OK but I doubled up the stern lines because the river will be running hard for the next few days and my boat is tied stern-to the current. Thankfully, high tide last night (3AM) wasn't nearly as high as yesterday afternoon due to the wind shift. My pier had at least 2 people stay onboard because they were concerned.

I appreciate the compliment Brandon but with a wet-slipped boat, you NEVER know. If I hadn't worked such a long shift yesterday I would've been down there last evening, and maybe stayed onboard.

I won't make the 10/9 raftup. I'm rebuilding my 12V charging system over the next month or so because I'm tired of fighting dead batteries.

I won't be at the raft up either. Due to a family illness i have no time to get the boat trailer ready for the 100 mile tow to the bay..

I want to bring the Nova, I'm always up for a challenge....
I'm gonna get to the bottom of this "Free" ramp issue....I want to believe maxum2400, but I do know that almost all Md. "public owned" ramps require permits, but I don't know about De. However, he lives right there by the ramp and I would tend to believe he knows of what he is speaking. It may be a De. City owned ramp that is actually free and not a State owned ramp where the fee would be assessed. Just like the Ches. City ramp is public AND free.

What are these MD "public owned" ramps that require permits are you speaking of?

Here's the link to the official Delaware ramp permit application for all state-administered ramps.

The ramp is located within Ft. DuPont State Park so it's reasonable to think it's administered by the state. I don't know how closely the ramp permit law is enforced.

The ramp permit is for all non-tidal access ramps, so maybe the Ft. DuPont ramp is exempt.

A lot of the Eastern shore ramps. If you are out-of -state, you have to get a permit for the ramps in wahtever county you plan on launching from..... Talbot County ramp permit, or a Kent county ramp permit, or a Queen Anne's county ramp permit....so on and so on.....

Doesn't matter anywho...I done forgot that my boat carries De. reg. stickers...soooo I guess I can launch for free at De. City anyway;).....yay me... a win-win for team Stan....:D:p:D:p
