Nah, the article says it happened on the Elk by Elk Neck state park....no unlit nuns or cans out there. Easy to get confused by all the lights out there anyway. Might have missed the lights on the buoy for all the lights up on land. Still no excuse, imho. Says he was coming back from Chesapeake Inn so you can draw your own conclusions as to his sobriety.....probably running fast and navigating solely by GPS. 20 feet off of actual location (common GPS error) can put you right into a buoy. You GOTTA keep a sharp eye out at night and not just count on your GPS.it was prob an unlighted nun bouy.
Those unlighed bouys can be dangerous at night, even sober.
I think they should all be lighted. if you don't put a light on it, just don't put it out there.
one night i came within 10 ft or a bouy near the sand islands. But i was going 5 mph.
