Re: Boating the Upper Chesapeake

Here's the link to the official Delaware ramp permit application for all state-administered ramps.

The ramp is located within Ft. DuPont State Park so it's reasonable to think it's administered by the state. I don't know how closely the ramp permit law is enforced.
The key word in that application in contained in the first sentence.."tidal".....so is the De. city ramp considered in a tidal area? I would think so, but maybe not... as i said before....doesn't matter to me now anyway....I gots dem De. boat reg stickers...so it be free fo' me!

I'm still planning for this Saturday, the 9th. Who are we down to at this point, or is it just gonna be lonely ol' me?

I'm still in. Going to need some hand holding though as I'm totally new to the bay.

Maybe I need new glasses... but where are you all meeting up? We are hoping to get out one more time this year and I have 12gal of mixed fuel to run out (that'll get me about 20 miles or so at 12 - 15mph Not bad for a 40y.o. 2 stroke 60hp).

We don't know anything about the Bay below Turkey Point & the Elk River.

I'm in for the 9th if I get my drive back together. Unlikely but I'll know for sure by Wednesday.

Rob - Glad to hear ended well after the storm. Better safe than sorry. Also, sorry to hear that you won't be at the raft up. Want to grab a ride with anyone?

Lime - Also sorry to hear that you will not be able to make it. Hoping the family situation is back to normal soon.

Stan - Glad to hear that you are bringing the Nova! I am anxious to check that boat out.

Jeremy - Where do you plan to launch at? We will be putting in at North East and may be able to hook up and travel to the site together.

Scott & Dot - I don't think that a meeting place had been determined yet.

All - Who wants to meet where? Sands Island? Llyods Creek? Somewhere else? I plan on being there and I think my wife will be along too! Will have to leave the raftup by around 2:30 to pick my brother up at BWI airport.

See you all on Saturday!

Boy I'd REALLY love to, but unfortunately have a Saturday morning commitment and need to work on the boat in the PM.

I'm always up for Lloyds Creek, but I'm willing to go wherever the majority decrees. Just cast my vote for Lloyds. Also, I am coming down the Blue Route from N.E. Pa. so any who want to meet up on the road for a caravan can p.m me and maybe we'll all just drop in together in Northeast if maxum2400 doesn't get back to me about cruising down together from De. city.

I'm now cautiously optimistic my boat will be back together; my drive is supposed to be delivered tomorrow.

Assuming all goes well, I can drop in at the Salem, NJ ramp and motor across to meet Supernova in Delaware city, or I can drop in at the ramp in Northeast. I'll be coming from Southern NJ.

I should be reinstalling my drive Friday evening Saturday morning. If the latter, I will be launching right afterward.

I got my drive back today but I can't seem to get the shifting adjusted properly. I think I know what's wrong, but I don;t have time to fix it before Saturday. I guess you'll all have to go without me. :(:(

I hope to finally meet you all next spring!

Well, it looks like we have 1 vote for Llyods and I will second that. It is a nice calm and protected area. It shouldn't be too busy Saturday since it is after Labor Day but the weather is looking awesome!!!

So if there are no other suggestions, lets do Llyods Creek. What time is everyone thinking? Like I said, I will be leaving the raft-up around 2pm.

Anybody want to meet around North East and travel down together? EZ - check your PM's.

Sitting by the water now, probably heading out on the boat in a few hours :D

Re: Boating the Upper Chesapeake

Had some monkey wrenches thrown in my plan. Won't be able to make it this weekend after all. Not giving up for the year yet though, so I will be down either next weekend or in November for the fall foliage tour. Sorry guys about this weekend, but there is nothing I can do about it.:(

OK,
won't be installing my drive until 1pm tomorrow. My mechanic friend's doing, not mine.
In this case I would pick my wife up at her shop, as she closes at 3 and we could be on the water at 3:30.

I will do that if some of you will still be out, if not, I will just come out Sunday.

So, is anyone still planning on coming tomorrow?

I will have to be off the water by 2:30 so I guess we will miss Scott.

If anyone is still lurking... We'll be out tomorrow am... were launching from Rogues harbor @Elk Neck, shooting for 10:30ish so Iguess we'll make LLoyds Creek by 11:30ish. It'll be our first trip below Turkey Point area. (I did dee a narrow entrance into the cove on Google earth, Is that it?

We launched once from Indian Acres and went to Knights Island but never out the Sas into the bay.

I don't own an FM radio yet but will take my hunting radio and use that on 16 if any of you have multi-band FM radio's.

"PennyLane" is itching for one more trip and maybe a fall tour too...

I'll look here before we leave in the morning.
