Haha, it won't be easy but I totally plan on it. Unless one of you guys let it slip

He was originally asking $6500, but I got it for $3,600, and it came with a brand new (less than 1 hour run time) Honda eu2000i generator that is worth $800. Its not a marine genny, but big enough to run everything on the boat. Will just have to strap it to the swim platform while using it. It also came with a brand new Raymarine A57D chart plotter that just needs installed (Worth about $600). So that makes the net price $2200! Sounds good to me anyway. :)

I had actually been looking for a small genny like that to keep around the house in case of power outages, etc. and would have been buying 1 soon anyway. And I would have definitely been adding the chart plotter so that worked out even better!

There are good deals out there, just have to be patient and keep looking around.

Unbelievable. ABSOLUTELY unbelievable. I can't believe what these older cruisers are going for. Congrats! I think I'm going to spend more time on the bay next year with all my swanky cruiser friends :D:D

Re: New Boat!!!!

Looks awesome. So, where did you find the jack stands at? Just out of curiosity, do you have the stand tied together under the boat? I can't tell how you have it set up from the pic, but I have read that it is a good idea to chain them together right across from each other. This keeps them from being pulled out from under the boat. Anyway, just a thought, I am sure that you have it all under control.
I got the jackstands from the guy who hauled it. They are not chained together, not needed if it's blocked properly, but I still might chain them together anyway. The stands stabilize and the blocks support.

Well, today I took the plunge and did it!!
AWESOME! That boat is sweet!

You might be a redneck, If the boat sitting in your front yard is bigger than your house.

Oh yeah, it is a surprise to my wife!! So if you are facebook friends with me, please don't post anything on my profile :) I don't plan on telling her until we go to Cape May in the spring to bring it back! She is going to love it.

Congratulations! Good luck keeping it a secret til spring. I doubt I could.

Re: New Boat!!!!

Not bad :D

Before anybody gets the wrong idea, especially for those of you that haven't yet met me, I love my wife very much and she will love this surprise! She is under a lot of stress right now at work and doesn't have any extra time or energy to think about these things. Also, I know more about boats and what will best suit our needs so she prefers to stay out of these decisions.

We recently went on a houseboat trip on Lake Powell and she said that it was on of her favorite vacations! The way I see it, we can now have vacations like that more often!

Heading out there tomorrow to do some cleaning and work to her. I winterized it last weekend so that parts done.

Winter, please go quickly!

(Arks and Skargo - I put a deposit down for a slip at Tydings and am now on the wait list. If I can't get one next year, I will most likely end up with an island slip for the summer.)

We'll all be at Tydings eventually. Maybe they'll slip us on the same pier.

Re: New Boat!!!!

Well, today I took the plunge and did it!! I still can't believe it. I found a 1985 30' Sea Ray 300 SRV Flybridge cruiser........

WOW, and CONGRATS Brandon. Great find!
There's absolutely NO WAY you're keeping that a secret until spring.....:)
Are you planning to fix it up in Jersey or have her transported to your place in the spring?

Let me know if I can be any help. I find myself in Cape May from time to time- my sister has a place in West CM and my daughter currently works at the Washington Steet Mall.

On another note:
I REALLY tried to make the fall colors run but work had to take priority.
You (finally) had a beautiful day for it, and thanks to all for posting the pics and vids.

My boat will be spending the winter in the slip. Hopefully I can get her winterized in the next week or so. I'm looking forward to having some more 'big boat' friends!!!

That's not too far of a trip on the water. driving a boat from cape may to HDG.
I think its about 120 miles i think. maybe less.

Is it on land now? If so I would leave it there till spring, then drive it back here in the spring.

Thanks, I am super excited! I think that we are all going to have a great year on the water next year!

After getting some quotes and weighing my options, I have decided to leave her in Cape May for the winter and try to do some work to her. (Not the easiest thing to do when it is about 3 hours away and cold out!) Then come spring, we will splash her and bring her back to HDG by water. Rob, I may be hitting you up for some local info as I know you have done this trip before!

All i have to really do this winter is rebuild the carbs, although I may just replace them both as they are mismatched right now anyway. I will probably rebuild the sea water pumps as well just to be sure everything is good for the 5 hour + journey back. Also, I need to troubleshoot the Bennet trim tabs to get them working, it looks like the system is complete. The rest of the boat is mostly cosmetic stuff. The bottom paint is good.

I have started picking up some of the safety equipment that I will need on board as well. I figure I will do that over the winter so I am ready in the Spring. So far I have:

2 new ICOM 504 VHF radio
2 new Shakespeare antennas for VHF
35 lb Manson Supreme Delta style anchor
23 lb Fortress anchor
7 lb Fortress anchor (Will use as rear anchor for anchoring out.
Large Orion Signal kit including day and night signals
2 new Fire Extinguishers.
4 Fenders and fender holders

I already have a large medial kit, binoculars, charts, etc. to go onboard.

So the winter punch list is:

Rebuild/Replace Carbs
Replace all Spark Plugs
Rebuild Sea Water pumps - Peace of mind and easy
Get Bennet Trim Tabs working
Go through all electrical - Bulbs, Fuses, Switches, etc.
Check/Replace batteries as needed (4 total)

Then splash her in the spring and run around Cape May for a day or so.

Adjust anything that is needed for a safe journey home.

Slip at HDG Tydings Marina and enjoy over the summer while fix her up cosmetically.

So far I have got the boat winterized, both fresh water cooled engines and the boats water system.

Woohoo, let the fun begin!

Yeah, I hope so too! If not, she will spend the season in an island slip.

When I talked to them, it sounded like the 30' range turned over pretty quickly.

I figured it out to be about $300 a month for a transient slip when available. Also, there is a possibility or the bulkhead space as well I believe.

I guess we will wait to see what happens in January. Keeping my fingers crossed with the Island as the back up plan.

Is this still a secret? Please let us know what excuse you give to be away all day on a Saturday or Sunday. Or the stockpile of supplies.
