So, just got back from the job on saturday and noticed that the inside of my elbow was a little puffy (inner bone).
I know it has done this before when I banged it good against something hard, but what is it from, bone chips ??????

Re: Bone chip???

More than likely it's acute Bursitis. There is a bursa sac in the elbow which produces bursa fluid (conveniently named...) to pad and lubricate the joint. When you get a sharp impact, the sac may leak the fluid into the elbow, just below the skin. It usually takes a week or two to heal and reabsorb the fluid, unless you have it drained.

I had so many problems with mine, they actually removed the stupid leaky thing.

I love that! I'm stealing it. That's it..it's mine now...

AHAH, I got the affliction, I am using it till the pain goes away and the swelling goes down, then you can have it back or share it with the next poor afflictey!:D:facepalm:

OK, so its resting comfortably sort of, on a semi frozen bag of peas thats on a throw pillow, anything else that I can do besides internal stuff???

Believe it or not, bee stings might help. I dinged my elbow once and it was so bad I could barely use it. Stopped by the bee-keeper to get some honey and he talked me into letting him set a bee on it, which bee promptly committed suicide on my elbow. An hour later I was pulling in a main electrical entrance.

Compared to the bursitis, the bee sting felt pretty good, sorta like liniment on steroids.

does it hurt all the time, or does it only hurt when you move it, and as you move it a little more it seems to ease up on the hurting some. Is the swelling on the outside of the elbow joint? If that's kinda the way it feels, then the acute Bursitis would be my guess. I've been dealing with chronic bursitis in my elbow and shoulder for a few years, and that's kinda the way it feels. Go see your doctor, who will probaby prescribe some kind of anti-inflammatory and rest until the swelling goes down.

Re: Bone chip???

My friend had to have surgery on his wrist. He said before the surg.the pain became absolutely unbearable as if his wrist might explode like a bomb! probably not the same as in the elbow.Ive heard of people treating severe arthritis w beestings applied right to the joint, knuckles, fingers etc.And the frozen peas, limabeans, kernal corn work way better than a bag of Icecubes!IMO.I guess its better the swelling is external and maybe not so bad in the joint itself.Would ibuprofin help w that? anyone?.I had another friend who had diabetes.he was large 6'6 and very colorful/crotchety.His feet were falling apart and he wore what he called frankenstien(orthopedic boots)And walked funny. One day we met for breakfast, a waitress asked him 'whats wrong w your feet honey?'he loudly replied"some big dumb***** has been stompin on them for 50 years!"I miss him.

Re: Bone chip???

Since we're still only assuming that it could be bursitis, I wouldn't go jabbing honeybees or other critters into it, just yet. See a doctor. That's why they went to medical school. You really gonna trust a bunch of yahoos on a blog page that can't see your elbow and wouldn't know what it was if they could? The 2 reasons I offered my input was 20 years as a Paramedic and actually suffering from the exact same thing. But again, I'm offering an opinion that's worth exactly what you're paying for it.

The reason the inflammation is so painful is that the fluid inside the joint is putting a large amount of pressure on the joint and the nerve bundles that run through there. Your friends wrist hurt even more so because there is a lot less free space to accomodate the fluid. Bee venom has been known to help arthritis sufferers because of the anesthetic effects SOME bees have. Others may send you to the hospital ...or worse. The only relief I ever got was draining the fluid with a syringe and needle about once a day, but that was after a qualified diagnosis, previous medical knowledge, and sterile equipment. Please don't go jabbing needles (or lancing) any tissue swelling you may have.

Well the swellings down 50%, move-ability is up, I think I am on the mend and will lay off the arm wrestling for awhile. ;):)
