With our growing family we decided to get something with more space than our 18' ski boat, so we purchased a 2012 sweetwater 200 tritoon. We still need to purchase a trailer and are looking for recommendations.

Didn't the dealer have trailers you could buy?

Wiegs: How much was your selling dealer willing to sell a trailer to you for?

You can buy a twin axle trailer for $2095 from a dealer in Elkhart or Lebanon, MO. The same trailers are available outside Atlanta for about the same $. These are good trailers, and their prices are guidelines on what you should expect to pay.

The dealer did have trailers available. They were asking about 2500 with the tritoon kit. I did not buy the trailer because we don't need until may. Thought maybe I could find A deal.

Rooster, we boat in lake monona and mendota here in Wisconsin. Got a 115 merc. Could not justify stepping up to the 150.

Beautiful, can't wait to see pics. That 115 should do nicely on a 20' triple tube. Even w/ the 3rd tube, I don't think you need a dual axle trailer w/ brakes. Single w/o brakes should do the trick, depending upon your tow vehicle. Good luck !!!

Re: Bought new pontoon and need trailer

You should be looking at a tandem axle trailer, because I believe this boat is no 20'er with a small engine. You might could beat he $2500 offer on a trailer, but it'd be a hassle chasing around for the trailer, moving the new toon to the trailer, etc.

The main thing with a pontoon is having a proper tow vehicle. My 24' Bennington with the trailer is about 4000 lbs., but it pulls like it's heavier due to poor aerodynamics and the long length. But I have not problems towing with a 3/4 diesel pickup.

Used tri toon trailers are not as common as a two toon trailer yet. And yes the total weight of the boat and trailer determines if its a single or a duel axles.

Looks like a good trailer. 3 grand if you get brakes, a center tube setup, and guides. I don't like the way it looks as if shipping is free when it's not.

I can pick this trailer up. Only a few hours away. I am not planning to get brakes. I tow with f150 that has plenty of braking power. Our ski boat and trailer weight about the same and I had no problems.

Nice looking barge, wiegs. I know you guys will enjoy it, but if you're not already familiar with the towing laws in your state I'd advise you to become so. Most states require trailer brakes once you reach a certain weight or GVWR, and I'd be willing to bet your rig will meet or exceed that threshold. I agree that you don't need a dual axle trailer.

I beg to differ. 20' tritoon with a 115 will come very close to if not exceed the standard 3500 lb. axle. It will be far more stable with tandem axles.

Don't think so unless that third toon is really heavy. I have a 21 footer (only two toons) with a ninety and the whole rig including the trailer is around 3500 pounds. The single axle trailer is factory matched to the boat. I've towed it all over creation, from Texas to the Ouachita mountains to the Ozark mountains, and it's always been very stable. I would be shocked if that barge required two axles.

Actually, The pontoon is 22' and the est wet weight is 2800lb. I am really leaning more towards a tandem axle trailer. It will handle better.

Re: Bought new pontoon and need trailer

If I had a choice I would go with the tandem, but I have a 24' pontoon. I go down a lot of rough roads in the ozarks and have blown a tire a couple of times, it's nice being able to limp on, on three tires to a place that good for changing to spare. Twice the cost of full tire replacement but havin fun costs money!
