Awesome deal. I have a '54. It doen't look like new, but it does look pretty good. A motor in your condition should bring in top price the model and year though, but if I were you, I would keep it and put it to use.

It's all about running condition and buyer. Perfectly running (and demonstrable) motors are always worth more. And if you find the guy who's grandpa had the exact same new motor and that was his first boating experience.. could be priceless to him. My guess for around my area (MN) would be maybe $300 for pristine barn find, untested and perhaps $750 all gone through w/perfect tank (new o-rings and hose). I got $750 for a mint '58 FD-12 barn find recently, but I went through magneto, carb and fuel lines, gearcase seals, impeller, and fuel tank o-rings/hose/gasket. I figured I needed $500, listed for $750 because it was so pretty and ran perfect.. It was GONE to the first guy who saw/heard it run (and MANY other calls). But 15hp+ would probably fetch more than <10hp.. One way to find out! Good luck.

This thing is MINT!!!!!! I put in new plugs ,(cause they was missing ) A little marvel mystery oil in the cyls and new gas ,pumped the tank and pulled 5 times and she fired right up !! Little rough to start with and smoothed right out.I had it in a drum of water and the pump was spraying a stream .Cranked it for a few customers to show them and nobody could belive this .I will take some pics this weekend ,its not nothing i have ever seen in 48 years of my life for somthing to be this old and look like this !!!

I dont want to run this thing no more than what i did ,but i think i need to shoot a video of the whole thing .I have been a mechanic for 35 years and have never seen a boat motor look like this with all the rubber soft ,wires perfect ,the pull cord still white .Not even a scratch on the skeg or prop .no wrench marks on screws or bolts ,no wear on choke mechanical parts ,throttle has zero play .It is new old stock motor with out the crate it come in .It has a few scratches on the cowl where someone had layed it on its side .It needs to be in some place to keep it like this on display or something .

Awwww man. Someone stored it with the plugs out? What mistake that is. It's too easy for dust and crap to get in and condensation to stick the rings in the cylinders. Even if it's a bad plug, I'll screw it in, to protect the cylinders.

Yea, post some pictures of this bad boy. We like eye candy. :D:D

Please replace the impeller before it comes apart and clogs up the powerhead and ruins everything. 55 years is a bit much to expect from a rubber impeller.
Cool motor!

Nice find....and looks great!

I'm just wondering how those 50+ year old coils are holding up?
