My Evinrude repair manual tells me to NOT use double oil for breaking in after a teardown or rebuild. This seems opposite of what everyone else typically says.
I've used double oil for 12gallons and the plugs have fouled a little. Lots of carbon build up. I cleaned the plugs and put them back in until I burn up the rest of the double oil gas mix. My mechanic who rebuilt the motor also said use double oil or almost double oil. He said to use double for the first two (6gal) tanks. After that I can start going back to 50:1 and I can use my Royal Purple synthetic 2-stroke oil.
Anyone find a really bad logic in this?
Also, the carb flooded twice due to the oil mix. The plugs were so fouled after 2.5hrs of running with various speeds and cool down periods. The motor was hard to start. It fires fine now that I cleaned the plugs.
