Air cooled so think about sitting in the boat with your lawnmower running wide open right behind you. Not my idea of a fun ride and I agree 100% that this is a dirty water motor only or one that someone on a very limited budget would have to contend with and then wonder why they didn't just pair of oars.
I guess they're supposed to be good for shallower water being air cooled no need for a waterpump but you still have to be deep enough for the propeller so I don't know what the advantage is maybe the price?
LOL,If you need an air cooled motor, check out the Honda 2HP, 4 stroke, air cooled, centrifugal clutch driven, 28 lb. motor. For shallow water, claming, crabbing, fishing, small boat/canoe might be a motor to consider. Like they said, the Briggs-Stratton is mostly a lawn mower with a prop, and they don't recommend it at all for salt water. Good Luck!
ditto on salt water.
the "prop on a stick" is also a go-devil.
The ones I saw in Thailand were crazy; Chevy engines on a swivel with a 20' pole behind them!
