What compound did you use to polish the aluminum trim?
It looks fantastic!

Thanks Painterguy. I used Mother's mag & alumninum polish. I have been using this stuff for years to recondition old aluminum rims. For severe pitting you can use 1500 grit wet/dry sandpaper with lots of water followed by this stuff and just about anything aluminum will shine like chrome. This is what the container looks like if you're looking for it a store:

Thank you so much. All I needed to hear was that someone had successfully used the vinyl and that it was readily available. A quick google search found a few dealers and the stuff is very reasonably priced. I think that solves the issue flooring-wise. I don't want to spend a ton of time cleaning up and I know if there is carpet in there I will freak out everytime some water gets in there, even if it is marine grade carpet.

Great boat and pictures!!!!! This is a very interesting thread. And it's perticularly interesting for me because I too purchased an old starcraft recently, and I'm putting the same outboard on it. I'm a little nervous about the electric gear shift as well but we'll see. I haven't seen to much negitive feed back on it. Again great work, and thanks for all the description in your restoration process.
