Not all toilet bowl cleaner is created equal... It has to have the ingredient "hydrogen chloride." It'll make her good as white.

Also look for 'sodium hypoclorite'/'sodium hypochloride'...it's bleach.

I know the active ingredient in Sno Bol brand is Hydrochloric acid, same stuff "On & Off" hull cleaner has in it.

I've used Lime away and CLR to clean mine. As with the others mentioned, got to rinse it off afterwards.

I bought the star brite product and it worked well some kind of acid, make sure you wear glasses if your spraying it on it burns, only question I have is does it take my wax off everytime? so I'll have to wax after each use, if thats so that will be a pain

Yes, it?s going to take the wax off.

The trick is to keep a good layer of wax on the boat above the water line. I put 2 coats of wax on before I put the boat in the water in March. Pulled the boat out for its spring cleaning last weekend and had very little staining above the water line. It took maybe 15 minutes to wax the affected areas.

FWIW: The brown stains you're getting on the hull is the result of the dead oak leaves (tannin) breaking down and washing into the water shed. It's bad in the Spring but usually dissipates by Mid-May or so. It?s pretty much non-existent the rest of the year.

My beautiful white boat now has brown stained patches all over the hull, never knew a river could be so disgusting how do I get this thing clean? only in the water for 2 hours
Let's hope the "brown stains" are superficial and topical cleaning removes them. Those stains can also be an indication of "bleed-through" of stagnated, mildewed water in the hull.

Re: brown stains help!!!

thanks guys, I'm going to try "nu-hull" cleaner got some great info from them and good knowledge with the whole gelcoat thing, It was definately the dirty river water and not bleed through as far as I can see, it cleans up very nicely. I'm going to use "eagle one wax as u dry" for the (1-2 quick clean and wax)

I have my boat now in the chesapeake bay and hopefully it will be cleaner
