Eric, you won't get any coherent response from the "anti-war side", at least any plan that doesn't involve surrender.

I don't know what it is with these guys... were they so protected in their childhood that they never learned that if you gave up your lunch money once, you'll go hungary every day after?

What is it about World Terrorism that they don't understand? Do they think 9/11 was the end of all terrorist attacks? Nothing could be worse?

Do they think if we just say "sorry, bad mistake, we'll go away now, and we can live happily ever after" and the terrorists will settle down to a happy lifestyle?

The "anti-war crowd" are living in a dream world of their own political platforms... and it's all about power and the lengths they will go to too gain it.

No one but the Bush Administration is looking at the long term effects of this war. Nancy and her crowd are only looking to appease the public for that run in 2008... as long as the nukes don't go off until we have a Dem President, it's ok with her... after that, we will negotiate.... maybe give the Iranian Caliphate a permanent membership in the UN.

Why be scared Custom, the middle east has a major ass whoopin coming it's way, No fear dude im afraid your buying into the hype that is being sold to them and the world.

If there was any real concern, the middle east would be glass in 30 minutes, 2000 years of conflict ended in sec's, Make no mistake all of you posting here, the middle east is but a fly on the bottom of a pile of chit.

Dont like that, ask China,Russia, Europe or the USA if they like there oil being jacked up........... It's almost laughable.

I'm afraid it isn't quite that simple.

Yes, we live in a world that is "Pax American". We are the 800 lb. Gorilla that can sleep where ever we want. We could, by force of arms, take the whole damed planet and dictate any terms we like, and screw world opinion... but that is not what we are.

We could make the Mid-East a self lite, glass parking lot, and maybe in the long run we should... it sure would cut down on the terrorists coming from that region, they would be dead.... so would the people that just want to live day to day.

We have the capability to take and control all of the oil fields in the Middle East, a ring of steal and guns that no living enmity could pierce.

We could, in the interest of the worlds economies, protect and secure those oil fields and rob the terrorist of their backing... we won't.

For the first time in world history... we could, but we won't.

Well, Crunch, there are a legion of reference materials that show the true nature of this war. Read Frank Rich's "Greatest Story Ever Sold" It's as good as anything for a start. And then there is "Fiasco": "Cobra II"; and any number of other publications.

And yes there are definite parallels to Viet Nam. It originated from a lie, and at its root was a civil war. Once we left, it resolved itself with the inevitable amount of bloodshed that always comes with civil wars.
It's an unfortunate reality, I am afraid.

PW2, please google SEATO.

I personally participated in the gathering of proof (in 1956) that Ho planned, organized, financed, supplied and directed the "civil" war. That is why Ike supplied assistance and advisors to SVN.

It doesn't fit PW's agenda of making the US out to be bad to the core! Once again if America is good AND strong there is no place for the Left to go. They need to destabilize things and bring things down so they can step in and be in control. If a problem does not exist, they are masters at trying to create them.

They have finaly come out with their plan for Iraq....

House to unveil Iraq withdrawal bill
By Jeremy Jacobs

Congressional Progressive Caucus chairwomen Lynn Woolsey (D-Calif. ) and Barbara Lee (D-Calif. ) and Out of Iraq Caucus Chairwoman Rep. Maxine Waters (D-Calif. ) will tout their legislation tomorrow calling for a withdrawal of U.S. forces in Iraq within six months.

The House lawmakers are scheduled to hold a press conference on their new bill, which would prohibit permanent military bases in Iraq and provide economic aid for the Iraqi government.

The legislation would fully fund the withdrawal of troops and military contractors.

Re: Bush: If you don't like my Iraq plan, tell me yours

I guess I needed to add more info/opinion to my post.

Ho Chi Minh sponsored the "civil" war in Viet Nam. When his VC couldn't handle US intervention he sent NVN troops. Got his clock cleaned, but wouldn't quit.

He agreed to cease and desist if/when we withdrew. When we were gone his original intent was a piece of cake with no pretense of it being a "civil" war.

Iran, Syria and Al Qaeda have sponsored, supplied, financed, organized, supported and directed an insugency in Iraq. When that didn't seem to be getting anywhere except lots of dead Iraqis and insurgents and a few dead Americans and Brits they triggered a mutual slaughter with no obvious objectives between the Sunni and Shia.

It might be an attempt to hold the USA somehow responsible for the Iraqis being slaughtered by their henchmen. They have murdered more innocents in 4 years than Saddam did in 20. Ho tried that with the Viet Namese civilians slaughtered by the NVN and VC.

My joke was the parallels and the left screaming for another "diplomatic" solution as a way of surrendering. It may not be a funny joke, but a joke it is.

And all that got started because why?

Maybe if we were not fed a line of crap to sell us this war we wouldn't be there right now. Maybe then we'd all be unified to go kick the crap out of Iran when they started their mess. I think people in high places had their reasons for being in Iraq. Maybe they were good reasons (maybe not). For whatever reason, we were sold a bunch of BS so we'd go along with it. And we did (Yup, I was right there in front of the TV cheering every bomb that hit Bahgdad and telling my whining wife to put a sock in it b/c Iraq was an imminent threat and we (and the president I voted for) were doing the right thing). Now we're in a mess with no foreseeable good outcome.

There is no good plan. There is only death and politics. The right is setting the stage to blame this whole mess on the dems. That'll be their '08 presidential campaign platform. You sit in the bushes and watch.

No disrespect intended JB.

If the Dems force a withdrawal by legislation, they will be setting themselves up for full responsibility for the results that follow..... any part of that you can't understand?

Right On Crunch! The reason we got there, (Dems voted for it too) is now moot. We need to win, and most of the Dems and Libs want defeat: real bad. We need to deny our all of our advisaries what they want. JR ps you get my PM?

"The right is setting the stage to blame this whole mess on the dems."

I agree with that, but only if we withdraw in disgraceful surrender. If GWB manages to get it to work. . . to finish the job. . .the left will neither deserve nor get credit.

My big problem with your whole position, I386, is that you seem to have accepted defeat. Worse yet, you have a lot of company.
