Going to load it up tomorrow for some serious TLC. Seems like a solid craft for sure. Enormous inside! Pretty sure this is a 22' V5?

Thinking of a decent resto with emphasis on fishing. Engine runs well, needs a few rivets and transom is hard. Will add a kicker, trolling motor, electronics, custom built storage for gear and 60" livewell. Planning on making it look sharp and work even better! Boat will be set up for Erie and Lake St. Clair, muskies in particular.

Super excited as i've been trolling C-list for a while.

nice boat, that should make for a good boat for Erie and St. Clair. post some more pics when you get her home. Should be a nice project.

I'm envious, if you want ideas on rigging for great lakes have a look at the 2nd one on this link, totally friggin awsome:D

as a 18 foot center console owner with a gunwale mounted bimini, get the T top, the gunwale attachment just ruins most of the advantage the center console has as a fishin boat.

Looks pretty sweet. I just bought a 78 22' V5 that the PO used on Erie. He said it was perfect boat for the job. Do not take the transom for granted. Pop that splashwell off and make sure. Erie and St. Clair are pretty shallow, but you would hate to have to look for that big OB. Take lots of pics too.

Thanks. I'll take a good long look at the T-top deal. Fishing space is something that is paramount. I don't like the straps that tie to the gunwale for sure.

Whatever this things needs it's going to get for sure. I don't skimp on safety. I just can't justify a 30k-50k boat, as I'm sure you can relate.

Thanks guys! any ideas or comments on things to look for and to ponder feel free to post it up!

Got the boat and it's going to need more work than I thought it would. (not a huge surprise) Love the hull design. Love it. Don't want a crazy full resto but I plan on making it 100% big water worthy. Replace rivets, fill holes, new deck, flush tank/and or replace, new wiring and paint. going to drain gas tomorrow, change the impeller, and see how well the outboard runs.

Does anyone know what rivets I need for this specifically? I'm most concerned about this before I do the deck and everything else. I really want this dry as I might leave it in lake for weeks at a time.

Re: Buying a 79 22ft Center console tomorrow!

Ok.....not a ton of pics I know but it's a 79 V5 Mariner with an old 150 hp merc from the 70's. Looks awesome from the pic but it looks best from 30 feet or so. Will be epic when I'm done for sure. I'll have a few pictures here and there as I always seem to forget to take them, and lots of pics when I finish something. Anyone can help me on the reputation of the outboard and any parts I'll need would be greatly appriciated. 70's Merc 1500 This is pretty much going to be a full resto minus a transom. Rivets, best glue,(gluvit???) < what is this? New wiring....Do many reuse the Alum oem tank? mine doesn't appear to have been leaking.

Going to modify the floor plan a bit but nothing crazy. Going to build a 9' locking rod locker on one side for trolling rods that will stay in the boat, and something similar on the other side for storage.

Any and all comments appreciated.

Nice!
Yep,, many use the existing tank,, just check it over real good... rust, thin spots - see if you can push an ice pick through it,, clean it out real good and pressure test it. If it all checks out,, it's good to go.
